what's yoru thoughts?

here's what i think it's all about..

Kim Jong Un is no longer in power, or is dead.

NK is in that weird void between when the old regime and everything it stood for is collapsing, creating a major power vacuum, i believe the big three are ALL TRYING TO GET puppet government installed.

right now control NK is a high commodity, the Chinese want it bad. but SK is sitting right there all cozied up to us, and China is debating whether or not they think they are in shape to take us on over seizing power... hard to do with the current prostest uprising happening in the south of China.

creates a PERFECT storm for Russia. they have 2 options.... back the military coup that is about to happen in NK (remember they are comrades after all)

or the turn their backs on NK and allow either the China or the US to gain control of NK,...

lets see how this plays out..

yes the movie was in poor taste, yes it's full of propoganda, but i've noticed a trend in in the way the media/propoganda machine has been used lately, and this is what i've gathered.

I saw it. Objectively it was quite good. I wish they had done more to make Kim look bad. That was the main weak point that the movie simply failed to make him come off as even as bad as he is in real life. They referenced it but you never saw him do anything crazy, just talk about it more or less.

Also, damnit, the guy who played Kim did such a great part I almost felt bad for him at the end. I mean, he seemed like a fun guy for a lot of the movie.

I'll probably rent it soon.

He is alive and well.

Let me just say the following:

1. There will not be another Korean War unless North Korea starts it. Contrary to the sabre rattling and hot air from Pyongyang, North Korea's leadership is not dumb -- they know that there is no way on earth they could ever win a war against South Korea, let alone the US.
2. I'm not so sure South Korea wants reunification at this point. The costs would be staggering and would make the unification of East/West Germany look cheap and easy by comparison. Imagine a modern nation trying to unify with a large medieval nation and the issues it would cause -- that's what a North/South Korea unification would look like, except in my example, integrating a medieval nation would probably be easier.
3. China and Russia have little or no incentive to defend North Korea. China, in particular, would lose more than it would gain.
4. North Korea isn't a "high commodity" at all (I assume by this you mean "in demand" or something similar). They're nothing more than a pawn and have little or nothing to offer the world.
5. About war -- no one should be under any sort of delusion. The US would finish off North Korea inside of a month and probably within a week or two if it came to war. People forget a couple of things about the Korean War: a) In the late 40s/early 50s, North Korea had a large population AND industrial advantage. b) North Korea was only saved because of China. The UN had finished off North Korea until China took them by surprise and invaded and the technological gap is far greater now than it was then. The USAF and Navy would obliterate the North Korea forces so fast that they wouldn't even know what hit them.

What we have here is a huge tragedy and the North Korean regime is cruel and inhumane on the order of Stalin or Hitler. However, I don't believe it is worth a single drop of American blood to remedy. China (and to a lesser extent, Russia) created this monster and the blood is on their hands. Let them fix it with coordination from South Korea.

I haven't because it is sold out in the small "boutique" theater here (the only one that is showing the movie in the neighborhood).

China doesn't want NK. They just don't want millions of refugees, so they support NK.

Haven't seen. I didn't plan on watching it before the fiasco, and I'm not planning to see it out of patriotic duty. I may watch it when it comes to netflix.

Put the pipe down man.
No one wants North Korea. It's a festering shit hole of fear and poverty.

7 out of 10 worth 6 dollars imo.

Couldn't get my YOUTube TV app or the TV browser to play it, had to watch on PC so that kind of sucked, I hate that watching movies on the PC.

I'd give the movie a 5/10. Movie felt too forced, plot was too predictable, there were few scenes that were funny enough to get a laugh out of me, and I'm very glad I didn't waste much money on it.

Simply because of the splash it's caused I'd still recommend people see it especially for the cheap price to stream it.

There were a lot of really good parts that held me through the valleys of the boring parts.

I could watch it a few more times. It was hard to watch Kim die at the end though because they basically set you up to feel sorry for him.

Basically, of course he's crazy. He's the son of a crazy ass dictator and now he's in his early 30's running a country when he probably wishes he was just some random guy in NYC having a good life.

The only good part was Eminem, IMO lol.

I actually thought that was the worst part of the movie! It felt way too forced and completely missed for me. Movie did get better after that opening scene though.

I saw the movie a few days ago. No, I did not download it off Pirate Bay.......

The movie was good in the aspect, that it will help prove to the North Korean population that their leader is not a God, that it is stupid to believe that he speaks with dolphins or does not pee or poop. This movie will certainly help turn this country around.

I'm not interested in seeing it. Comedies these days have sucked. Sony thought it was going to be a stinker and so they were willing to pull it from theater's to begin with. The premise itself is so unfunny. Very meh.

I can't figure out how people find him funny. It must have something to do with the generation that thinks being annoying to strangers, videotaping the interaction, and posting it on Youtube is the coolest thing ever.

Were you talking about the original candid camera series? Or was that from a different generation? This movie was pure slap stick, right up your generations alley;)
