How's the on-line play for PS2?

Still alot of fvckers calling the same audibles over and over again? Fvckin' cheese plays and shite? God, I hate that with Madden 2003...

(Yes, I am a sore loser. And bitter too! And no, I don't have the time to spend my whole waking life perfecting my game.)

:D

This game sucks. Nothing was fixed from last year, some problems got worse, and some new ones were added.

Running inside is impossible. The best hope at running is to catch the D cheating and run a counter.

Passing, however, is simple. I threw for 498 yards in my first real game by just bombing it to my #1 WR, and that was over 3 quarters after I gave up trying to run.

DB's still suck. I've had 3 sure INTs clang off my Pro Bowl CB's hands in two games. In those same two games I've twice had an opposing DL make a leaping fingertip INT, something I've seen maybe 5 times in 20 years of watching football. I mean really, how many NFL linemen have more than a 2 inch vertical leap?

Blitzing the CPU is still pointless.

Comeback code alive and well. Want to see Tim Couch and Andre Davis turn into Joe Montana and Jerry Rice? Just be winning in the 4th.

CPU's clock management sucks. With 3 TO's it let me run the clock down to 2:00 from 2:29 on a 4th down punt. It will also run hurryup until it scores, even if it means leaving a lot of time on the clock.

Still no way to disable the agonizing between play music, and EA now has some sweaty, sub-literate neanderthal screaming catch phrases at me before the game loads. Note to EA: you don't need to sell the game after I buy it.

Offense and defensive controls are still bound together. IOW, you can't change a pass button without it also changing one of your defensive/special teams controls.

So all in all this is a classic example of what happens with no competition.

honestly, I'm disappointed.

NCAA 2004 is loads better. looks better plays better.... just plain better.

if you really want NFL action I guess it's the way to go but if you have any interested in NCAA football, I'd recommend it 30x over.

so i finally got it and the game is way too frustrating. cpu makes impossible catches, runs through the middle and fights of 4 guys for big yardage and intercepts anyball that isn't perfectly thrown. i think i need to down the difficulty setting for a few games until i get back into the hang of madden.

Well I haven't bought Madden 2004 yet. I 'm still playing 2003 (PC version). I started a new season with the Cowboys and just finished the first NFC championship game. I played against the Bucs. The Tampa Bay Buc's are my 2nd team and I felt bad downing Brad Johnson, Mike Alstott and the rest of the buc?s crew. Tonight I'm to drunk to continue my game but I ask you to keep the Madden 2004 reviews coming. I have to decide between Madden 2004 or ESPN football 2004 (NFL2K4) for the X-box.

Damn I love August and the return of Football!!!!!

Damnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have this version what improvements does Maddeon 2004 have, and should I upgrade?

Maybe you should be asking yourself. Should I upgrade to a 486 or does this 386 have all the power I need?

Hmm.. I play as the Raiders for my Franchise, made a few trade moves.. Last game I had, I won 45-10 against the Bears. The best way to run in this game is to have a mobile QB; like Michael Vick mobile. I can run a 100 yds easy with just the QB, and still get 60-70 yds with Garner.

On the otherhand, I found passing more difficult. One game I threw 4 interceptions, though quick routes seem to do best especially when there's a mismatch on D. I've yet to see any DL intercept the ball yet.

Pressuring the QB will result in more interceptions also. Had 3 interceptions by Buchanon from constantly pressuring the QB. I usually run a Nickel D, and am almost always blitzing.

I agree the Comeback mode is so damn annoying and messes up my defensive stats for an otherwise good game and that the CPU's clock management sucks; they'll go into a hurry up offense before the 2 minute warning, then go timeouts after; if they go timeouts at all.

Can't complain about the controls though.. they're perfect for how I use them. :)

The game is really good but it does have one problem that I can see. Maybe two.

1. Clock management by the CPU is horrible. I was beating the CPU 49-10 in the 4th quarter and it was doing the no huddle offense and calling time outs with under a minute to play.

2. EASPORTS ONLINE is so gay it is unbelievable. Who in their right mind would pay to play on that crap?

Other than that, the game is really balanced and very enjoyable to play.

PC version - how do you go about playing around with requesting a new stadium or upgrading it ? I took a quick look in the owner's box section and I didn't see the option to do anything there... all just informational. I did see the price change menus, but not stadium changing stuff... maybe I have to start week 1 first ? I just finished 4 preseason weeks.

I like this game. Lots of turnovers though; the trueform and helmet mapping is messed up on some teams. Other than that, its an very enjoyable game.
