The very reason prices go up before the hurrican hits is because everyone is hoarding gasoline. If everyone were to just go about their normal routine, prices would go up, but not as quickly. Of course, that's what would be good for everyone. For the individual, it makes perfect sense to get as much gas as you can right now, so many people do it. Thus, with such demand for gasoline we're faced with 2 options: raise prices, or have shortages. Personally, I'd rather have the option of more expensive gasoline than no gasoline.

I filled up earlier tonight at $2.59 a gallon and I had about 1/2 tank left. BTW, the Wal Mart was like a zoo, everything was out, water, bread, orange juice, baby formula, ect. you name it. It was unreal.

As far as I can see, no local gas stations run out of gas. We will see how bad Rita will be tomorrow and Sunday.

I'm in Dallas, and I went to 7 gas stations this afternoon before I found one with gas.
Not sure if there is a shortage, or what the deal is.
