So who else...

I wish i could afford to spend $500 on a video card to play Diablo 3. I will be playing the game with a Athlon II X3 455 3.3Ghz and Powercolor Radeon HD 4850 1GB so I will have to see what settings I can use and still get good performance. This system ran Mass Effect 3 well so i am hopeful. 🙂

I bought a GTX 680 which I will be using in D3 but I play many more games then that which actually require more graphics "horsepower". 😉

Don, you gotta get diablo 3 if you have any interest in action / RPG type games. I pretty much love it so far.

Bah, always on DRM crap, and you can't play it in offline mode in case your connection (or their servers) goes down.

No thanks.

I also don't know why OP would get a $500+ vid card just for D3... seems like a odd reason.

Hmmmm...my xFire is primarly used for FFOW (yes, a game that's ~5 years old!) and occasionally BF3 -- all on a 1920x1200 display. lol

Maybe he likes to run benchmarks. I know people who buy cars that go 180mph when the speed limit is 70 max.

I'm on the fence about getting a new gpu. Not necessarily for D3, but I've got the upgrade itch. Can't do it without unloading my 570 first though.

Any $100 dollar card will allow you to max out settings in D3.

I highly doubt this although you could drop a couple of sliders and notice virtually no drop in quality and run on a $100 card.

Edit. Of course this really depends on what resolution we are talking about.

I built my rig so I can play FPS, Guild Wars 2 and Tera 2 type games... Diablo 3 graphics don't impress me - but I'm still gettng it... if I'm going to stare at a PC monitor for hours I want to stare at eye candy! :sneaky:

That's your opinion but almost every single house has broadband and it's not as unreliable as you make it out to be. Once they get things up and running after the initial week or two there should be no issue staying connected. I have no problem being logged in.

can anyone with 4870 1g and something like a e8400 oc'd to 3.7G chime in on how D3 is running on a 1080p display? Want to know if I need to go out and buy a better vid card.

And before anyone ask why don't I upgrade my ancient c2d first...well I figure I'll wait a bit longer for haswell so.

I think my 2 eVGA GTX 460 1GB (Version: Original) overclocked to 870/1740/4200 will play Diablo III just fine with everything cranked up at 1680x1050. Stupid DRM.

Diablo 3 needs > 40 fps to feel smooth. Best budget upgrade is HD6850 or HD6870.

HD6850 for $125 after $10 off with coupon code: Congrats and $15 MIR.

P.S. I am amazed how awful this game runs on an HD4890 and that it can't even get 60 fps on a GTX285. Awful programming on Blizzard's part considering how ugly it looks (literally looks like a 2005 game). I realize this game isn't about graphics but given the graphics, the performance is shockingly bad. GTX580 gets 76 fps in Dirt 3 and 94 fps in MW3 at 1080P + 4AA. No joke. This game should run at 600 FPS on a GTX680.
