Shitty ending? I hope not... I won't spoil it for myself, though.

Apparently not shitty, but from the vague semi-spoilers I've read (I don't want specifics) all of the endings are depressing and bittersweet, even the best one. Now keep in mind this is a leak, so who knows? There might be a "happy ending" DLC that EA/Bioware try to cash in on. Or there might be endings that aren't mentioned in the leaks.

The issue is I think most people wanted some glorious space-opera "calvary to the rescue" type ending and what they're getting is a more realistic ending. I mean, we're talking Reapers here. Shepard said it himself, they're more advanced than us, smarter than us, by many orders of magnitude. They've crushed galaxies of higher civilizations for millions of years. Whatdo the fans think war with them would be like? It's about survival at all cost, just defeating them alone is a realistic happy ending, and the galaxy would be shattered by it.

They also need to leave enough wiggle room in the plot for the inevitable Mass Effect side projects. They said that this would be the end of the John Shepard storyline, but they didn't say no to new games based in the Mass Effect universe. Personally, I think there is enough lore and strife to make an MMO, but that's me :p. I can't wait for the Mass Effect movie to come out.

All those that pre-ordered CE version in UK via GAME got shafted,GAME cancelled all pre-orders,I received my email yesterday from them.

A source has revealed to IGN that GAME, the UK's biggest specialist retail store, will not be stocking Mass Effect 3 when it is released on March 9th.

The document below, which came from one of the group's flagship stores, indicates that GAME will not be stocking ANY of EA's March releases after SSX. Customers with pre-orders will be given £5 worth of Reward Card/Elite points.

Over 100 page thread about it at Bioware forums here http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9532537 ,I was lucky that I found another online store that at CE version available for pre-order in UK.

This fiasco by GAME has angered a lot of UK gamers.

Without going into details, it's not about expecting glorious victory, or even having a hard time accepting a bittersweet ending. There are about a thousand variants of bittersweet, or downright sad endings that fanbase would've eaten up.

The uproar is entirely about the particular details of the endings, if the leak is accurate.

I personally guarantee you the ending issues are not at all related to leaving wiggle room.

Yeah I accidentally absorbed some of the details while seeing what was up,
specifically the mass effect relays being destroyed and the Normandy crew starting a colony
but even then that's only one possible ending. And frankly, I wouldn't be too dissatisfied with that. Makes potential sense to me.

Bottom line, I'm still looking forward to the game in a big way, and as long as the endings fit the story appropriately I'll probably be happy.

Oh, I'm looking forward to it. But then from the multiplayer demo, I've come to the conclusion that I can be perfectly satisfied with Gears of War with a level system for quite some time.

Beyond that, I'll avoid any further discussion - it's impossible to reasonably discuss any of the uproar without spoilering like crazy. Lets just say I'm very much hoping the leak is incorrect or incomplete - but the leaks so far have a pretty good track record for accuracy.

I guess I was one of those hoping for an ending in which humanity was triumphant and Shepard kicks reaper butt. I mean yes, the reapers are formidable, but what is the point of a 3 game series unless you can conquer them. Otherwise it is just, they are stronger than we are, they wipe us out, end of story.

Maybe I should just replay KOTOR 1. Now that game had an awesome ending. (Just kidding, sort of.)

These posts mentioning a "John" Shepard and "him" blow my mind. Shepard is, was, and always will be a female. The voice actors are like night and day: male is a terrible nobody, female is the badass Jennifer Hale.

Anyway! With that out of the way I hope the ending stuff doesn't bother me. I like depressing endings :p
