I just bought an Inspiron 8200 notebook. Dell loaded it up with all sorts of nifty extras and a top notch user's manual to boot. I got it with a 2GHz P4m, 512MB DDR RAM, DVD/CDRW drive, Radeon M9, and a 15in Display. Its pretty tight. 🙂

I have an IBM Thinkpad T20 which has a 700 mHz PIII cpu. I use it for away from home MSOffice appls, email, and playing mp3 and movie files. I got it used off ebay for $700 (probably less than one third of what it costs new).

carry it with me everywhere, very durable.

I have one too. P3-700 (only CPU they came with, AFAIK), 256mb RAM (Max - 1 slot, and won't take high-density RAM), 20gb hard drive (upgraded myself), 3.6lbs with 6-cell battery. Lasts about 2 hours w/o wireless card and gaming. 🙂

Not durable, though. I thought I was fairly careful with it, but the LCD hinge covers have come off, and there are some dings on the "magnesium" case. Gets hot as a mofo. Thank goodness for that 3-year in-home warranty, though. 🙂
