so .. which CPUs have on-die thermal readings?

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) all P4's has on die temp monitors. Is it the Palomino series and up of AMD's chips that have on die temp monitors? I'm looking to put together a test system but unsure of which route to take. I need temp readings as accurate as possible (and on die is about as good as it gets), so can someone elaborate on which CPUs have on-die temp monitors (and which boards, or should I say chipsets, support them)?

Ok, ViRGE is right. I know that my XP T-bred has one because I use it all the time. When a company adds a feature to a CPU, they generally don't drop it in future steppings or in the next generation unless there is a completing reason to do so. On-die temp diodes just make sense. Neither Intel nor AMD will make a proc today w/out one.

Ok, what about motherboard support? Does anyone know of any chipset (and future chipsets) that support this feature? I have an XP1700+ JIUHB that has the temp feature but my motherboard (some Biostar mATX nForce2) doesn't support it (same thing with my parents' XP 1800+ Palomino on Abit KG7). Is it safe to say that ALL P4's and all P4 mobos use the internal temp readings? Just wondering because I've never seen an external thermal probe on an Intel board before ..

CPU having a feature is one thing. A chipset and mobo making use of it is something else. However, I believe that the nForce2 chipset supports the CPU temp diodes. I know my Asus A7n8x board does. You may simply need the right software to access it (a guess on my part). My Asus mobo came with monitoring program and I never really thought twice about it.
