I also think the argument about guns as a means of protection from the government is kind of silly, it's not like civilian firearms would be able to do anything against a Bradley, lol. If it ever came to the point where we needed to revolt against our government, I'd be fighting with whatever I could find/make -- stones, molotov cocktails, etc. Whether I had a gun or not probably wouldn't make much of a difference. :p

But at the same time, there's not really any evidence to support that gun bans reduce violent crimes (in fact, it seems like in some cases, bans result in *increased* violent crimes -- makes no sense to me, but it's not like you can argue against statistics), so I say more power to the people who want to own them.

You have to get out of the tank sometime. Not to mention Tank don't move too far without infantry support to clear and check for mines.

Read about the Winter War and how ~ 1000 Finnish snipers stopped whole divisions of russians in WW2, killing a like a million russians. Don't underestimate the power of a rifle. If Iraqi's had about 1000 300 winmags we would'nt be able to occupy anything in Iraq. As it is now with crappy and inaccurate AK's their rag tag militia cause us serious problems and those weapons can't penetrate body armor like millions of our hunting rifles can. The US government would have no chance with a group of determined US civilians due to our superior rounds, weapons, machining capability and access to chemicals to make high explosives..

1. It's damn fun to shoot. Have been trapshooting and target shooting since I was 10. There's nothing better than going out with your dad and grandpa to shoot...and the smell of a spent cartridge being ejected from the chamber. Can't wait to carry on the tradition with my kids when they're older.

2. Defense of home and property. My guns are locked in a fire safe 24/7 but I keep 1 pistol nearby in one of those small code-safes in case someone is stupid enough to try and break in at night. I pray I never have to use it but woe be to that person who makes me.

3. To guarantee we the people can never be oppressed by either our government or by invading forces. This last one is the primary reason for the 2nd amendment -- the right that guarantees all others. No country would dare invade us -- can you imagine the guerilla war that would ensue with so many of us armed? Long live the USA!

lol at your last statement. Afghanistan and Pakistan have a very violent history (those Pushtuns love their guns. There's one in every household) yet Afghanis haven't had peace for over a generation. The gun culture there is 100X worse than anywhere else in the world and they have been invaded time and time again.

And the Swiss have a full auto machine gun in every home and have almost zero crime and have never been invaded. Back in the 1980's I was in Switzerland and a wife and husband were in a grocery store with Sig 550's strapped to their backs when my mom asked WTF?? They said they were going to their monthly village shooting competition. It's cultural.

Their guns weren't designed to kill like ours were.

And you obviously know nothing about Switzerland. It is a nearly homogeneous society that has declared itself independent for centuries. Their immigration laws are rough on foreigners:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new...racism-xenophobia.html

So? Korea and Japan have amazingly strict gun laws. Yet, its perfectly safe. When I was twelve, I routinely walked home 3-4 miles a day from cram school at midnight, and I never had anything bad happen.

You never year about mass shootings, or a huge crime rate.

Its all cultural.

Thank you for destroying your own argument. You have just pointed out that guns themselves hold no blame for the crimes/violence of a nation. It's entirely cultural and socio-economic. It therefore follows that the only way to successfully address crimes/violence is to fix the socio-economic and cultural failures, and not to focus on firearms.

I like Chris Rock's idea about making every bullet cost 10,000 dollars.

Why not? Cigarettes are not getting any cheaper and they kill people by the thousands (but they smell). If we are going to make a list of things that are dangerous: Cars;...planes...;animals that bite...; guys in ski masks....; and amusement park rides.

God forbid if you left your house to do something other than exercise (while dodging bullets, bears, filthy smokers, cars, drunks, and lawyers).

I am kind of suprised the NRA hasn't organized some type of get together, especially since they are expecting a ruling on one of the topics tomorrow or so.

I know I will go to jail before I give them up.

What topic are you referring to?

OP is apparently yet another severly oppressed white guy whose complete lack of basic grammar skills -- "Every other race, religion" -- would lead the reader to believe that gun ownership is a race and/or a religion, which it may well be in his tiny little mind.

He's armed, he's angry, he can't even communicate properly . . . nope, nothing to worry about with this one.

Sorry I can't focus on my english because I was also forced to learn other languages and deal with them, it cut my studying time out. What the hell does race have to do with it? Oh yea, I know, I have legal guns so I'm white. If I were black or mexican they would be off the street and I could care less about these bills right? So again what does being white have to do with it? This reminds me of Kid Rock's latest song "And how can we seek salvation when our nations race relations, Got me feeling guilty of being white"

And yes I am angry, I'm tired of this country falling apart, and every person expecting handouts. No one wants to stand up for themself if it means they have to leave their chair/car/couch/daily routine.

Except if you speak out the government will stomp on your ass and squish you like a bug. Sure they have no problems their.

Hey hey now, the 2nd amendment doesn't give you the right to arm bears.

I always appreciate the fact that a notable percentage of Americans think that there is literally no chance of a malevolent government stepping into power. (unless you operate on the principle that one already has.)

In addition, these also tend to be the same people that believe no war could be brought to our shores.

If both of these scenarios were absolutely excluded from the realm of possibility... AND I had no desire to protect myself/family with a weapon... I would be in favor of eliminating weapons from our society.

But.. I am, begrudgingly so, living in a reality where revolution and protection are occasionally required. I understand there is a blood tax to freedom. I'm willing to pay it. If you're not... I highly suggest you relocate or.. help the burgeoning police state into place.

YOU brought race into a discussion about guns with the first three fucking words of your OP: "Every other race."

"So again what does being white have to do with it?" You tell me, sport, you began your stupid little rant that way.
