Swap my generic 128mb 133Mhz RAM for 256mb of Crucial or some make like that. Then possibly a USB scanner. Or another hard drive (75GXP).

I'll have this as soon as the MB is out:
Abit KT7A-RAID
T-bird 1GHz (oc @1.2GHz??)
2x128MB Mosel PC133 Cas2 (oc @157??)
And some other stuff to ""fill up"" the Addtronics 7896A case :).
For CPU cooling I'm going for a Hedgehog w. 80-92mm fan or peltier + water cooling (>1.2GHz??).

#1 on my list is a new monitor, a 24" Sony GDM-FW900!!!! I will not stray from this for I am on a mission to own this bodascious puppy by months end! This month!! :)

#2 P3 700 @ 1050 to replace my P3 450 @600

#3 Matrox G800

#4 RAID 5 in W2K with the new 320MB SCSI4

#5 I'll wait until 2 Qtr 02 to see what's happening, but I'm thinking my next rig will be a dual cpu system (hopefully there will be a good selection of games & progams for SMP to make it genuinely worthwhile) w/ 400MHz FSB.

Just upgraded to an Duron 650 thats OC'd to 800 and should hit 900 soon (once I get a bios update).

Traditionally I was a "get the fastest CPU and keep it for 2 years" type of person. I owned a P133, then a P2 300.

now I'm more of a "get a chip for under 200 bucks and stay with the pack by upgrading every 6 months" type of person. Hence I've owned both a Celeron II 566@700 and now my Duron 650@900.

I can see myself upgrading again in the summer...hoping to get around 1.5-1.8 ghz around then.
I was originally waiting for DDR but like everyone else, I got impatient and went the KT133 route.

speakers and a new soundcard are in my current upgrade batch (should be in by the end of the week).

SMP is a "good thing". Unless AMD gets their arse in gear and releases the 760MP _soon_, I'll be upgrading to a dual P3 setup with an MSI 694. I figure 933 would be a good speed. oh yeah, and converting all my tired old IDE devices to some form of SCSI. And a couple sets of Klipsch promedias. and a DC10+ capture card. and 3 18" SGI widescreen LCD pan*SLAP*...

sorry :)

Looking at an April or May upgrade. Salivating over the KT133A/DDR combos with a 1+G Tbird (or Palomino if they're early). Should be in the right time frame for that.

Well I want it to be a solid state hard drive :)

However, I may have to settle for a cpu+mobo combo upgrade to whatever is about $150-200.

That, or get a Seagate X-15 or an Quantum Atlas 10K III should it be better when it comes out...

If I go with the "meager" cpu+mobo combo upgrade, I may try to justify getting a Atlas 10K II...but my Seagate Cheetah 18XL is keeping me pretty happy.

I'm sure it won't be a DVD, I don't like the DVD standard morally, macro vision...blah...regions...blah...and it's not like the floppy situation when software titles started coming on CDs only and would not come out in a floppy version.
I'll get a DVD drive when floppies are no longer a part of the standard PC.
(ought to be able to get a 6x-10x dvd for $30-40 by then! haha)

I probably won't buy a burner. I'm happy with 18-20 minutes, it's a good chunk of time. However I would consider 9-10 minutes since that's not so fast that I won't know what to do or if I want to sit and wait.

Definitely not my video card, I just got a Geforce2 GTS 32mb DDR today :)

My Plextor 40X has served me well.

My cheapie WinTV PCI tuner card has proven itself to be easy to use.

My SCSI card is fine for now, since single hard drives are not sustaining 160mbyte/s anytime soon I'll live with U2W :)

Not my soundcard. I adore this SB Live and I'm attached to the huge soundfonts I've compiled for it :)

Not my monitor...This 750p is going to be tough to replace unless I inspect a display model and find it flawless and take it home :)

This Enlight 7237 and Enermax 450w PSU and APC Line-R 1250VA are supporting my system perfectly.

This circa 97 IBM Model M 90 keyboard should last me until the year 2027.

My speakers could stand to be replaced.

My mouse...argh. I want a mouse that's optical with only 3 TRUE buttons and NO wheel.

I think I could get a logitech 3 button first mouse and mod the innards of an optical mouse into it....mmmmm...

What did I forget? Anything...

Hmmm...my high ouput Sunon fans are keeping the system the right temp...

Johnny Mosel PC143 6 layer PCB SDRAM...these are staying as loooooong as possible :)
