I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12).

See sig. ;)

Actually, James 1:2-4. I'm encouraged by the meaning and I love the lyrical language.

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Please don't be deliberately antagonistic. Or, if you want to be, drop by Evangelical Free over by Oak Manor (the Burger King church) and do it in person. ;)

"And then there was beer"

That is the opening line in my personal religious text.

Did beer evolve or was it created? :p :)

I dunno, but it was a pretty intelligent design IMHO!:D

"One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him,[d] saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." And he said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

James 2:20-26 (King James Version)
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Below is the same passage in the God's Word Translation.
20 You fool! Do you have to be shown that faith which does nothing is useless?
21 Didn?t our ancestor Abraham receive God?s approval as a result of what he did when he offered his son Isaac as a sacrifice on the altar?
22 You see that Abraham?s faith and what he did worked together. His faith was shown to be genuine by what he did.
23 The Scripture passage came true. It says, "Abraham believed God, and that faith was regarded by God to be his approval of Abraham." So Abraham was called God?s friend.
24 You see that a person receives God?s approval because of what he does, not only because of what he believes.
25 The same is true of the prostitute Rahab who welcomed the spies and sent them away on another road. She received God?s approval because of what she did.
26 A body that doesn?t breathe is dead. In the same way faith that does nothing is dead.

"And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee." -Jules (apparently the actual verse isn't quite the same... but who gives a fvck, "it's just some cold-blooded sh1t to say to a ****** before you cap his ass" (i think that's how he put it) :D)

This is such a cool section. We undergo trials to make our faith more pure. Their design is to bring us to the point that we can't afford to put our trust in anything but God, and as such we cry out to him. My mother recently passed away and such was the case for me in that situation. Were it not for God and his promises, I don't know how I could have coped with the loss.
