I don't know; what are you going to study? I took a desktop, and ended up getting a refurb laptop because I thought I needed it. The laptop ended up sitting on my desk 90% of the time.

It's going to look like nothing because I'm not getting Conroe at launch. 🙂

I was going to sell my 144 + RAM + Ultra-D and get an E6600 + etc at launch, but I'm going to save my money. I'd like to get some better audio equipment. I find myself listening to music far more than playing games, and if you think computers are expensive try high-end audio equipment.

What ram would you recommend for overclocking? I'm definetly going for a 2x1gb kit - I just dont understand ram at all. I'm sure I could make it through overclocking after reading the article, but what is the best buy for overclocking?

E6600
Intel motherboard (I will never let an nForce chip in my computer again)
2GB of DDR2
Current 15K SCSI Drive
Current GTX7800
Current 24" LCD

I'm mainly updating the core parts.

Even further, why bother with an X1800? I mean he'd be better off with a stock cpu, value 667 DDr2 ram, and a faster video card.

Although, I guess I am assuming that system is intended to heavy gaming.

My siggy below has the whole setup. Im using some old components from my 3500+ system to make this work. Since I'm an old geezer behind the times of new Hard Drive connectors, i also picked up an UltraATA card so i can connect all of my devices, so there goes one PCI slot right there, oh well, compared to a miniATX board, anythings an upgrade as far as slots for expansion go. Happy Core 2 Duo(ing) everyone !
