So, what's wrong with Google this morning?

I can't access my GMail account, and all of my Google Home devices are saying "Something went wrong" when I ask them to do stuff. Google searches still work, though.

I can't access YT mobile. It states that I need to chck internet. I just tried to sign in on my laptop. It says that I don't have an acount. I can access gmail, and i can access YT desktop with no issues. I just read that Google servers suffered a power outage.

The Google Cloud console seems to be broken as well. I hope that the underlying servers are still OK, or they just broke a big chunk of the Internet.

A good lesson on putting all your eggs in one basket, and doing your computing on someone else's computer. Good thing no one had a spreadsheet they had to finish up first thing.

You know what is total BS? I lost the ability to turn my "smart" lights on and off while my Google home was down. Something like a Google Nest Hub should be smart enough to allow basic smart home functionality like lighting and HVAC controls without an Internet connection.

I thought this thread would be about how Google made their search totally useless on phones by frontloading the paid results to the point that one never gets to anything real.

Couldn't you just walk up to the light switch to turn it on and off?

That is why I refuse to touch any of the consumer home automation stuff, I don't like the fact that they require some external server to run. Everything should be local.

Been meaning to design my own solution, I really need to get on that since I do have lot of things I want to automate/monitor. Currently I only really do my hvac, and have a couple things I monitor but it's all hard coded.

Education is pretty big into the entire Google ecosystem so my Monday morning was quiet as no one could email us

Am finding that emails to people with Gmail accounts keep bouncing back. Says their account doesn't exist.
