Well, beside NASCAR being, IMO the dumbest race I've ever seen, people just put bad connotation.

Hicks are seen as stupid, incest encouraging, promiscuous sexual activity undertakers, marriage at 12 trailer trash, trailer trash, doesn't care about appearances, are messy, drink, get fat, don't take showers...etc.

I'm not saying that hicks are like that, but that is what people see them as.

It's interesting that you think you've associated yourself with them, especially since Orego is about as far away from the South as you can get. And yes, I am saying that when people think of hicks, they think of the southern belt states. I would not consider a farming community in rural Oregon (LOL) as one that would include hicks.
