according to religioustolerance.org about 76% of people in the states profess to be christian

that said the US is as much a christain nation as a republican nation, or an anglo saxon nation, or a fat nation, or anything other descriptor of its majority

contentious

No i just kind of think that it might be a christian state ( notice lowercase c in christian) funny I had to stop going to church over politics. Waht is even funnier is I am a Christian. Anyone see that clip from the United Church of Christ? The T.V. Add?? the one that said they welcome EVERYONE? Funny how the people in charge of yo government (WHO EVERYONE CALLS christians) are the ones who oppose the idea that christ did not turn people away. This is going to be a new (c)hristian state. They have already taken over. Pretty soon everyone will know they are in trouble. This is not something that just goes away in 4 years. Thisis something that ends democracies.

24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Oh, you're in Michigan. The Red spread hasn't quite made it up that far yet but right on your State borders.

You'll find out soon enough, most likely within the next two years.

They have been running that TV Ad like crazy as well as others similar to it down here in Louisiana.

There is still pockets of resistance in the City of New Orleans itself, they have the suburbs well under wraps.

Google for Christian Reconstructionsts or Dominionists.

Also, check out the history behind Congressmen like DeLay, Frist, Coburn, DeMint, and our soon-to-be-former Attorney General.

The vast majority of American profess to be Christian so I guess it can be truthfully called a predominantly Christian Nation. Of course most of these Christians aren't rabid Fund A Mental Cases hell bent on converting or damning those who aren't, just easy going people who keep their faith to themselves.

Technically(by Demographics), yes, the US is a Christian Nation, but that distinction isn't quite what the many calling the US a "Christian Nation" have in mind. To certain parts of US Society, the US is a Theocracy stolen by Godles Libeeals, Evolutionists, and Lawyers who use the Constitution to keep Christianity out of Government. There are thiose who blame the US's problems on the removal of Prayer from Schools and other forms of Public expressions of Christianity. These are the same people who think ALL the Founding Fathers were fine upstanding Christian Men who believed exactly as they do(though they'd say they mirror the Founding Fathers and not the other way around). These people have fabricated a History and have come to believe it as God's Word, dismissing even the very words of the Founding Fathers themself.

Sandorski:

And those are the nutcases that I personally want OUT of the republican party. Just like I want the Looney Left that thinks bush stole the election and that anyone from the south is stupid and uneducated OUT of the democratic party.

I prefer educated intellectuals, not Michael Moore or Jerry Fallwell

Ahhhh! But Grasshopper, there are only Black and White thinkers in THESE forums. Rare (but present nonetheless) is the middle of the road atitude in here. Realists are Oh! so boring and all and most of the time spark little controversy.

How about homosexual marriage? An overwhelming majority voted for discrimination based on sexual preference.

They don't call it "discrimination". It's their mandate against Sin.
