so whats up with the anandtech merchandise?

there was some discussion a while back about shirts, hats, stickers and other stuf with anadtech's logo on it, and now i want to buy me smth, so can i? someone sells those?
i want a t-shirt and a sticker to replace the "powered by asus" and "intel inside" thingy...

Well, I know who is in charge of getting all that going, and last I heard from him, it was still all go. He showed me a preview of the AT store website. I think it should be coming any time now. I would say his name, but his identity may or may not be public knowledge? Anyway, if it is public knowledge, I'm sure he'll post in here.
I would say, just be patient, it's coming soon.

I would like anandtech merchandise, but IMHO once he starts merchandizing the site will become like all those other capitalistic sites. It's a lose-lose situation IMHO, but if he starts selling Anandtech products I think it'd be a much bigger loss.

Kru and I were actually thinking of making t-shirts (of course, we'd need Anand's permission cuz his name's in the merchandise) In any case, I designed a tee and had kinko's print it for Trillian (she was one of the winners in my Senior Member contest way back). Anyway, if ya want, I can send you hi-res print quality image and have it made @ your end. It's not *official* merchandise, though

*cough NortonInternetSecurity cough*. Anandtech isn't a charity, but it's not amazon.com either. I'm not saying that selling some merchandise will make Anandtech evil, but it would begin a downward slide (IMHO) into becoming based more upon making money and less upon computer enthusiasm.

The thread was started and responded to by those who would like to have merchandise that identifys thier association with AnandTech Forums and this website on thier hats,thier mouse pads,thier shirts,thier sweat pants,thier jackets,---even thier computers and thier cars!







Oh heck. I think I'll even throw in some leather bomber jackets, too.


I know I want one.





If you haven't guessed it yet, I am the low life capitalist that is doing this for AnandTech.LOL It will be up in a few more weeks,we are finalizing some minor details.The webstore is in development by a member here and we are working with Jason for putting the link on the main page. I will accept visa/mastercard and I am working on a pay pal account as well. These are some of the details that need to be ironed out.


Further, A portion of the profits are dedicated for a charity of the members choosing under the direction and control of Anand Lal Shimpi.It is not about greed, just as these forums are not about greed. It is about helping one another fulfill thier desires. I hope you all will support it.

I'd love to have anandtech merchandise, but I was under the impression that Anand or Anandtech would be selling it. If it's some 3rd party then I support it.

No,Its just some members here,just like you. When we get it up and running,I think you will be pleased and pleasently surprized. I have been working the last few months almost daily on arranging for a good supplier that I would have ready access to and with a good track record and art department. Anand is now satisfied and the contract allowing for the use of the logo is in the lawyers hands now.

I hope you stop in and browse when we announce formally its grand opening. I hope to make it worth your while.
