So what's this eBay seller actually selling?

I have a Toshiba Libretto and this came up in one of my searches... Text

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what the plans he's selling would actually be for... not an IR header since the Libretto already has one... any ideas, AT? No way I'm spending anything for that PDF

The evidence so far...
- Seller bills it as the following:

Easy Software & File install & transfer System

*No floppy drive required
*No CD-Rom drive required
*No PC cable to cable connections required
*No Networking involved
*As little as a $6.00 investment in parts <---(probably the biggest clue...)

- Can't be IRDA, since the Libretto has an IR port already... can't be a laplink cable since seller says no pc-to-pc cable connections... likely not a suggestion to use usb flash drive since Libretto has no usb port, and pcmcia usb card + flash drive > $6

- possibly a network backup service (credit to Mike, and kind-of Squisher for email attachments suggestion)

- Trolled seller's feedback a little... he actually has received several positive feedback for this product:

I thought about that, but the original Librettos like my 100ct do not have a USB port... so a pcmcia USB card AND the drive for $6?

Might be just information about remote data backups. Several companies offer them for ~$5/month for up to 50gbs of remote backup and you can access the files anywhere.

Hmmmmmm... The Win98 comment would lend credence to the idea of a net backup service or something. Still hard to tell.

Looking at some of the seller's feedback, it may just be useless information. There are references to msconfig and "2 pages of info everyone knows about" in his feedback. Not to mention 174 feedbacks and 6 negative. :frown:

Regarding the msconfig stuff, I didn't sit there and review every single feedback, but for the record this isnt the only item the seller offers. He has some more crap like bootdisks, "How to speed up windows 600%", etc, etc. There were many more of those sold than this type.

I'm sure this is snake oil he's selling, just curious what breed of snake.

Don't "care" per se. I just enjoy reverse-engineering the hustle if I'm able to figure it out. It's like watching late-night infomercials and knowing exactly what "tips" the self-made billionaire will give on real estate. Or even like solving a riddle, somewhat, based on the technicalities or minute details of the little provided info you are provided during the setup.

For the record, I was shopping for a cd-rom drive for my libretto, and the listing came up...

...I already have a tracking number for my drive so believe me I'm not entertaining any ill-advised ideas.
