I would say it depends on the group of people that answer the question. For those of us that care about GPU temps, fewer people will pass than those that will buy. From the looks of it, the 290x could hit temps that are 15c higher than say, a 7970, at idle & load & that's just too damn hot.
You're always going to have the group of inexperienced folks who just don't know any better or don't do much research before they buy, but they won't be the majority.
Overall, I don't think this card will be a success, as its engineering faults are highlighted by many early on. Even under water, I think the card will still run hotter than what we want.
