Delivery was a bit early so I'll probably just get her some accessories to go with it. 😛

I got the husband a new receiver for the home theater setup & a couple of other things I won't mention here as I want them to remain a surprise 🙂

I take it Christmas is sucking for you this year.

nope. just left my old job for a new one with a $10,000/yr raise.

bought my wife this

A 24ct solid gold iPhone 4g.

The gold handset boasts 150 grams of 24ct gold for a price tag of $33,622 ... plus a $30/month data plan.

All my wife really wanted was an ipod dock.
She got that, a digital picture frame and some other misc stuff.

annoyed?

but fuck, what's the point of dating a Jewish guy if I'm still forced to celebrate Christmas? 😉

the whole orgy of commercialization around Christmas really bothers the hell out of me. I only buy gifts for my family because I don't want to deal with the year-long drama just to avoid hypocrisy.

We don't buy anything for family, and the GF and I also do not get presents for eachother either (sometimes we might do 1 gift each, sometimes). We usually travel instead...been this way for 7 years 8).

I never got what buying gifts vs travel have to do with each other.

What do you and your family do together for the holidays?

limited funds that would rather be spend doing something than buying something?

I'd get that, except it's usually delivered as they could afford it all (not talking about Vivi above, just in general).

I'd love to travel this time of year, but my wife's is blacked-out on PTO or even non-emergency non-PTO from October through January. I may end up in Japan this summer for a few weeks.

I am usually not here 😉.

But this year we're staying in the country, so we will be going to my side's get together. Her family lives a bit far, and generally do something in early January.

unlike you, he prefers to spend time with his family.

he doesn't need to bribe his SO with a gift to get them to stay with him for another year...

Dude, you off your meds or something?

We do Christmas at my parents each year.

Sorry you feel buying gifts for a loved one is akin to bribery.

My SO currently lacks a jacket that has any decent wind-stopping ability. Going to take her to REI and remedy that with one of the more expensive options. 🙂
