Amazing.

I've broken, smashed, or badly jammed every finger on both hands at least once in my life, so I have difficulty with some of the "proper" reaches and typing styles. I took beginning keyboarding when I started back to school last year to help break some bad habits and try to learn how to type better. I ended up typing in the mid-70 WPM range with 2-5 errors, but the instructor still dinged me for my"improper typing style." The only fucking "B" I have on my dammed transcripts...

In the summer of the Roman year 699, now described as the year 55 before the birth of Christ, the Proconsul of Gaul, Gaius Julius Caesar, turned his gaze upon Britain. In the midst of his wars in Germany and in Gaul he became conscious of this heavy Island which stirred his ambitions and already obstructed his designs. He knew that it was inhabited by the same type of tribesmen who confronted the Roman arms in Germany, Gaul, and Spain.

58wpm and 2 mistakes, but I made a lot more mistakes and kept fixing them. I tend to hit 2 keys at once a lot.

At ten minjtues past foru, of an evening lat ein September, I sat in the buggy and swung out of the livery stable that boarded my horse. Peter, the horse, was a chunky bay, not too large, nor too small; and I had stumbled on to him through none of my sagacity. To tell the plain truth, I wanted to get home, I had to have a horse that could stand the trip, no other likely looking horse was offered, this one was -on a trial drive he looked as if he might do, and so I bought him -no, not quite- I arranged with the owner that I should amke one complete trip with him and pay a fee of five dollarsw in case I did not keep him. As the sequence showed, I could not have found a better horse for the work in hand.

78 wpm, 6 mistakes first try. 71 wpm, 1 mistake second try. Probably just me but when I'm typing out their sample I kept getting distracted as I'm sounding out the sentences and thinking to myself "Wait, this paragraph makes no bloody sense."

Up at the League, says a friend, there had been one night a brisk conversational discussion, as to what would happen on the Morrow of the Revolution, finally shading off into a vigorous statement by various friends of their views on the future of the fully-developed new society. Says our friend: Considering the subject, the discussion was good- tempereed; for those present being used to public meetings and after lecture debates, if they did not listen to each others' opinions, which could scarcely be expected of them at all events did not always attempt to speak all together.

This is the story of what a Woman's patience can endure, and what a Man's resolution can achieve. If the machinery of the Law could be depended on to fathom every case of suspicion, and to conduct every process of inquiry, with moderate assistance only from the lubricating influences of oil and gold, the events which fill these pages might have cliaimed that share of the public attention in a Court of Justice. But the Law is still, in certain inevitable cases, the pre-engaged servant of the long purse; and the story is left to be told, for the first time, in this place.

I was very glad that Mr Attlee described my speeches in the war as expressing the will not only of Parliament but of the whole nation. Their will was resolute and remorseless and, as it proved, unconquerable. It fell to me to express it, and if I found the right words you must remember that I have always earned my living by my pen and by my tongue. It was a nation and race dwelling all round the globe that had the lion heart. I had the luck to be called upon to give the roar.
