So what would keep this RAM from working w/ my motherboard?

So that's it? Just motherboard limitation for the motherboard / PC they're saying the RAM is for?

My motherboard has two slots. I need at least 8GB. I run multiple VMs all the time so I need the extra RAM.

I would double-check the chipset limitations for RAM on your motherboard. I've never seen a mobo with only two slots, that took 4GB DIMMs.

Check out this review of a 9300 mobo, it DOES say that it supports 4GB DIMMs:

Interestingly though, that mobo has four DIMM slots.

I know my motherboard supports 4Gb sticks in each slot.

What I'm asking is if the RAM I linked to in the first post will work with my motherboard since the Dell website and the RAM's page on the manufacturer's site says it's system specific RAM (for a HP computer).
