So what was so horrible about the "National Treasure" movie?

I know it's not a great film and it's just a low brow knock off of the Da Vinci Code. It's just a popcorn movie that's fun to watch, and I don't think the director was going for much more than that.

But was it really that bad?

I liked them actually. They are more knockoffs of Indiana Jones (as I think Davinci Code was). I think most hate is about Nick Cage, and all the falsities in the subject matter, but as an adventure movie I thought it was fun.

People complain too much about wanting facts in movies...as if the Davinci Code was fact.

I like the first one. As long as you're looking for a decent "adventure" movie and don't worry much about the historical accuracy or anything, it's fine.

I didn't like the second one as much, but it was still watchable.

Yeah, fun dumb movie imho. I don't think they should have made sequels, but whatever. Not everything needs to be Citizen Kain, it's all about expectations.

People hate Nicholas Cage and just say its a bad movie, but I liked it and seem to watch it every time it's on TV, but I always wanted to be a treasure hunter, so I could be biased.

Cage was fine for these, his loony edge suited the conspiracy-nut researcher. The first one was much better but both were entertaining.
