Front desk transfers a caller to me who wanted to leave information for the one of the VPs in our company. I do not work anywhere close to that guy, although I know who he is. Caller started spouting off about some financial crap he wanted to leave via email because he couldn't get ahold of the VP whose travelling these few days. So he just wanted the email address of the guy to leave some financial documents that he claims to have left a voicemail about. I'm engineering. This is finance. Clearly no relation, and they got the wrong guy (me).
Supposedly front desk was supposed to forward the caller to the VP's admin (according to the caller), but this lady just started working the past week and I don't even know who she is. All I know is that I've seen her. Don't have a name, don't have her extension, don't know how to forward calls.
I kinda stumbled and just gave him the email address. Shrug. Felt like I should've just told him to call the front desk again, but the problem was I didn't have a name to tell him to ask for. At the same time I was worried to just ask them to call back because maybe the front desk has a messed up listing of the new admin since she's new and maybe the phone #s weren't checked yet. I remember getting a bunch of forwarded calls directed at the HR director to me one day when they royally messed up.
