So what TDP would a 22nm 2500k-like IB have?

I recently had a PC Power and Cooling 750W fail on a dual 5830 system that should have been pulling about 400-450W.
And I had a 600W PSU fail while it wasn't even running! I assume I should draw a conclusion from that, I'm just not sure which one.

PSUs usually have their highest efficiency at higher loads so much for that. All those people using 700+W CPUs for single GPUs and marginally overvolted CPUs are just wasting money, but oh well.

PS: Also overclocking alone increases power only minimally as long as one doesn't overvolt the CPU.

I included that anecdote just to show it's not just about wattage and that even name brands will have issues. It did fail gracefully and that's what I would expect of the top-tier power supply brands. The Antec he has provides the necessary PCI-E connections for 2 Radeon 6950s so he shouldn't feel his single card + CPU are pushing it.
