Seem to be the biggest costs. Just curious for those who are renting, what % of their pay goes to auto payment and how much to rent.

New SUV was paid with cash so no monthy payments, about 15% for rent. I know I have a good deal from the rent, that's why I am no hurry to buy a house. I will buy a nice house within the next 3 years.

Edit: I don't have any roommates and it is a house, not an apartment.

I read once 25% for each car and rent, and the rest saved.
I don't spend close to my rent on my car, so say it balances to 50% max total.

yeah it was funny how convient his degree is spelled out in his sig...

but 60% = $778, meaning the salary is $1296... a month?

and it is also net pay... so before taxes it should be around $2000 a month?

that sounds about right... i guess as long as you love what you're doing...

15% in car, 25% rent, 25% savings - live life with whats left.

edit: my numbers were messed up - so changed them to before tax income.

When I had a job, 35% of my gross went to car and rent (25% to rent alone). Now living off unemployment it's about 80% to car and rent. If I don't find a job soon it will be 0% of nothing to car and rent while I find a cardboard box to live in.

Ideally, your debts (including house and car payment or rent) should not exceed 35% of your net income.

Yeah, DONG! I'm 22 and have owned my own house for a year, not too bad. My job is still my college job basically. I am starting a new one with a little better pay on the 9th, and might not even do that because an even better much better paying one is knocking at my door, working at a talent agency.

And currently with no OT, I'm only taking home $1200 if I'm lucky. But I own my own car and am not an idiot when it comes to money.

What about rent? Or is that included in the credit cards?
