PS3 and probably a Revolution. It's all about the games. I still haven't seen an XBox exclusive title that interests me in the slightest. Nintendo is the best game maker out there and has a knack for releasing games that are simply fun, it's unfortunate their 3rd party support is so lack luster, though it is pretty much their fault.

I bought a PS2 the day it came out, and it still works fine, except for the controllers which are way too fragile. Luck of the draw. Now the PS1 on the otherhand, is there anyone who bought a first gen that didn't have hardware problems? Flipping the console upside was pretty much as famous as blowing into your NES to get it to work.

lol...ahh remember the days of blowing into the underside of your nintendo cartridge and inside the cartridge slot on the console, and doing it so many times that you would get lightheaded and almost pass out. I think XBOX will outsell Sony and Nintendo due to the great online options as well as a wonderful marketing department and the fact that they will be releasing the console before Sony, by the time PS3 comes out there will already be an decent library of games for the 360 as well. I still have to say I think I will go with the PS3...I think down the road the games for the PS3 will be able to take more advantage of the hardware within the beast.

BUT the thing is right, OK so say the XBOX 360 will be $300 + as everyone says. You have have to pay $50-60 a game and then you have to suscribe to Xbox live. YOU also have to PAY TO DOWNLOAD NEW MAPS/CONTENT. As stated on the anandtech homepage in one of the articles. And i can bet £100000000000000 that everyone is going to need to upgrade their 20GB xbox HDD's pretty quickly and they will cost a bundle.

Every one forgets all the additional costs.

Upgrade the 20GB HDD quickly? I am not even close to filling up the much smaller HD on my xbox.

I'm in the official "wait and see" camp.

Depending on how good the new consoles are, though, I may be dropping the PC as my gaming platform of choice (depends to a great extent on online/network play..)

I'm going for the PS3 first because of Sony exclusive titles like Gran Turismo. In fact, just Gran Turismo. I'd buy one if that was the only game available! I currently have a PS2 and an X-Box so I don't see why I can't have both the next gen consoles too. Obviously there's going to be a lot of penny saving on my part...

Any news on whether there'll be a PS3 GTA?

I have heard some reports about the PS3 costing between $399-$499 at launch. I really have no idea, its going to be completely based on the games and I am not going to buy a console until all 3 are out anyway. Hell, I will probably end up buying/borrowing the Revolution at some point just to play the next gen Zelda games which is the only reason I would be interested in a Nintendo system at this point. If I had to pick one right now it would be PS3 because of past success of the previous 2 PlayStation, plus, I have a PS2 so I can keep my old library.

Get it right, Nintendo consoles ARE MADE FOR Zelda games! 🙂

Agreed. I own a Gamecube for Zelda and Metriod. I would have sold my Gamecube long ago if the new Zelda wasn't coming out.

The same thing goes for Final Fantasy, or did. After FFX and FFX-2, that series alone won't push me to buy a new playstation.

I'll probably go for Xbox 360 eventually. Sony soured me with their shoddy build quality and S#ITTY DVD drives. I don't care how good the games are, if the console breaks every year it's pointless.

True I have heard many people complain about how the PS2 is always breaking....I have never thrown mine around or anything it's about 4 years old and never a problem. I think you got a lemon, I also own an XBOX so I am not being biased in my opinion, I think they both have their own advantages.

Make that two lemons. First I got DREs then the damn DVD drive refused to eject the game that was inside, so I pulled the POS apart.

As wexsmith said, there is a free level for Xbox Live. Assuming you are saying the PS3 is a better buy, the price of games is a wash as PS3 games will cost the same. Does the PS3 have a HDD at all? If not, it takes a lot of Mem cards, that aren't free, to make up 20GB. As for paying for Maps/content, i've heard about this, but i bet there will be similar things on PS3 and the nintendo console. I'm also in the wait and see camp, after PS3 is out, and at least one price drop has occured, i'll pick one up.

Edit: As for the Nintendo Revolution, there is rumor that you will be able to get online and DL a lot of popular nintendo games from older nintendo systems. I don't know if this is supposed to be free (or at least fairly cheap), but it might be worth picking up a revolution (if the rumor proves true) to play some NES and SNES titles 🙂

xbox 360 (soon after it comes out) , then revolution (right at release), then PS3 (when its at a good price/good games point, may be before Revolution is released)

This has been confirmed by Nintendo. It is not known how the games will be distributed, but they will make "fan-favorite" games available in some way. Personally, I am hoping that some 3rd parties offer their games for free also.

EDIT: Sorry for the two posts in a row, but I figured that a quote would be easier read in a separate message.

I'll wait till the PS3 is 300 and under. I'm definitely getting a Nintendo Revolution. Most likely getting an Xbox 360, if it's 300 and under.

Am I alone in thinking the PS3 is fugly? I've also had very bad luck with first gen Sony hardware. I'm waiting a bit to get a PS3. I might not get a PS3 at all depending on what type of exclusives they have. If most of the games are going to be out on Xbox and Revolution I'll skip that fugly PS3 system.

i think ibm will out sell both, considering they make both processors, win win for them, and as to which one i'll buy, neither, just play on my mates, much cheaper!! tho a bit scabby

I don't. I bought the others as soon as they were launched (and made the decisions to do so when they were announced). I love me some console gaming.

Worst case, we buy, don't like, then sell.

I will be getting an Xbox360. If the PS3 shows any reason at all for buying it over the 360, I may buy it when the price drops to the 300 level. I will be keeping an eye on the Revolution. It looks to be much different from the other consoles and their power struggle. Nintendo really could have something on this new console.

INdeed, But With all the multimedia this thing is going to have, I think the xbox 360 20GB will fill up. You don't know how much its operating system is going to use.

PS3 will be the better system. I will surely buy the nintendo just because they are nintendo, and when the 360 drops to like 200 ill pick it up just to play gears of war.
