<< I just wish I had CD players in both cars, who still uses cassettes? >>

Bober I just had my old turntable rebuilt and have been "rediscovering" music on LP's or "HUGE CD'S!" as my eight year-old says. BTW, no pops or crackles on my Vinyl as I always took good care of them and kept them clean and dust free. 25 year old albums still sound good but I gotta admit they don't have the clarity of CD's. CD's are still the way to go. Still all in all, a nice trip down memory lane.

As far as the car goes, CD player and premium sound system in the '99 Concorde and I would never be without one again. The '94 LHS I had previous to this had the Infinity system with a CD player and that without a doubt was the best sounding system I have ever had in a car.

1971 Olds Cutlass, Alpine tape deck(forget model)1 inch softdome Rockford Fosgate tweeters,4 inch Fosgate mids and 12 inch Fosgate subs. Phaselinear 35 watt amp, Fosgate punch 75 amp and a crossover(forget what kind). I would much rather listen to the 462 cubic inchs under the hood as it "sings" through 1 7/8 inch Hooker super comp headers, 3 inch pipe and 2 chamber Flowmasters. :)

1974 Jeep CJ-5. cheap tape deck, Phaselinear amp and some Pioneer 6x9s. Since it doesn't lock why have anything to nice. But the best music comes from my Hedman fenderwell headers and 2 1/2 inch pipe and 3 chamber Flowmasters. :)

1996 Pontiac Gradprix.. Stock tape deck and speakers.

1994 Dodge Caravan..I know, I know , but it's easy to get my little boy in and out of. Stock tape deck and speakers

Car: 91 Dodge Shadow America
Deck - Pioneer DEH-4100 (with remode =D)
Fronts - Cerwin Vega 5 1/4's (forgot model - rated a 40w RMS)
Rears - Polk Dx7's (5x7's)
Amp - Alpine V12 (50x4w RMS)

As for the subs (soon to be purchased):
2 - 12" Polk Dx12 Subs rated at 300w RMS a piece
And for the box I'm looking at a Q-Logic Bandpass box
As for amps, I dunno yet - any suggestions? I'd like to find something with around 400x2 Watts RMS, but I haven't found much yet...

genocide, man, first i suggest you stay away from the bandpass boxes...they sound horrible....!!! just horrible...i'd suggest you have a car audio shop build you a custom box...my be more expensive, but will sound hellabetter man :D

as for good amps for the money:
mtx
cadence
autotek
there's some more....but that's all i can think of right now :D

Clarion 8765z CD deck
-2xPioneer 6.5" (cheapo's from best buy in the doors)
-2xJBL tweeters on the dash
Jensen 600W 4-channel
-4xJBL 6.5" on the rear deck, under the back window. looks pretty sweet:)
-2 more of those tweeters in the back.

150W each gives those back speakers some room the stretch:)

Oh, and another part of my sound system is my transmission which is making some crazy noise.

My instruction booklet says it should have a 6 speaker sound system that comes standrad, but I only found 4 speakers. the other two are in the trunk? ANyways, teh sound is pretty good, and my freinds say it has really good bass.

Clarion DRX6675z
MB Quart DSD 216 6.5" + 3/4" tweet components
MTX RT1040
Kenwod KAC646x

Sounds pretty good so far... I am gonna be getting an Alpine v12 to power to the sub then I will bridge the kenwood into 2x70 for the comps. Should get rid of the darn tweeter hiss.

xero thats not true. Depending on what kind of music you listen to, a bandpass box can sound really sweet. And if made and setup up with the right equipment, it could sound a hell of a lot better than a sealed box.

I agree about the well built bandpass box, but if your sealed box is the right cu. feet for the sub with a good enough of an amp pushing it, a sealed box will and should sound better.

I made the change from a pre-fab bandpass to a custom sealed and it sounds MUCH better!

I don't have it yet, i don't even have a car, but this is what going in:

2 Atomic Thunder Shocker2's, haven't decided on ported or sealed, leaning towards sealed, i like the way it sounds
2 Earthquake phd2, j/k
haven't decided on amp(s) yet
Focal component set
Pioneer, Kenwood, or Clarion deck, maybe aiwa for the mp3 cd player
And i might add some 8's in the kicks for more midbass up front

sharkeep, there's two kinds of people (dealing w/ car audio):

1. the idiots that make it as loud as possible to just be loud...they dont care about distortion and all that, they just wanna be loud..

2. the guys that do it for the beauty of sound...and if there's distortion, they tweak and tweak until it's gone....and they have music at a reasonable level as to not bother others....car audiophiles you could say..

im # 2 :)
