So what is the AT community going to do for Indonesia?

Since so many of us are either from the affected areas, know poeple from there, have friends or family there, etc. Do you think we should do something as a group? Im thinking maybe funding a bunch of care packages for indonesian children, or perhaps buy medical equipment for some of the releif doctors that are headed over there. any thoughts?

It's a good thought, but I think the best thing is just to donate money. I heard on the radio yesterday it works better if they buy stuff more locally, and care packages would be hard to deal with logistically. So I guess just donate money to the Red Cross or some other orginization.

meh, I was hoping otherwise, just sending money is like sending someone a GC for xmass, ya know what I mean, doesnt feel like you made an effort, or really care....

If you didn't care or make an effort, you wouldn't be thinking about them or sending them money. Do what's best logistically and in return, you're helping those affected, in your own little way. 🙂

yes money is the best they are saying, people donating clothes and other items doesnt help them right away since they have organized it and prepare it and that takes time.

In todays modern society we have professional organizations who specialize in giving this kind of aide. Find one you like and send it some money. They can do so much more with what you send them that you could ever hope to do by yourself.

Analogy: Someone falls and breaks their neck. Joe blow can do so much more damage by tring to "feel like you made an effort" than if they had waited and let the professionals do their job.
