I keep seeing thses news stories about some type of revolutionary invention. It appears that in
trying to hype it up, the inventor is keeping it a secret, by only referring to it by "IT". Has
anybody seen this or heard about it?
 
Who HASN'T heard of "IT?"

Do a search, there are threads everywhere. Even in Hot Deals.

This, I believe, is the biggest one.

That's too obvious. That's one of his previous inventions, & information on it is readily available. This is most likely something new, else he'll have a lot of pissed off people when he finally breaks the story.

Yeah, it isn't like this would be a marketing gimmick or anything on one of his old patents. I mean, why would he bother promoting an old product when all he can get out of it is buttloads of free advertising all over the net?

1) It'll revolutionize the way cities are built
2) IT will cost about $2000
3) IT takes 10 minutes to put IT together
4) IT will be available in 2002
4) It's real name is Ginger

Feel free to correct me if I have made a mistake.

My guess: IT(Ginger) is an automated robotic construction tool. Umm, I don't know, but I have a feeling that when IT is revealed, I and everyone else will be disappointed. Maybe. 🙂

What if it's all bull caca started to simply motivate the minds of people to beginning inovating once more? I mean look at that huge thread in GW, lots of cool ideas out there.
 
I assure you that it is a product, and that the hype is being created by the media, and NOT the inventor. Dean is an icon in this town - I know several of the engineers on this project well.

Dean spells out the reasons for secrecy quite clearly - big business may not like this, or like the fact that they didn't come up with it.

I sick of hearing about IT. It's senseless to keep posting about IT. Nobody knows what the hell IT is. And I can promise that if IT is such a big deal, then we will all find out about IT at the same time. Why? Because if IT is so grand then CNN will be there covering IT as soon as IT is revealed.

From what the article says, those are pretty much accurate.
 
IT is a personal floating transportation device. Here is the patient.

It's basically a Razor scooter for people with lot's of money to burn 🙂

Dwell if you notice that patent you showed isn't for a device that floats. The three wheel setup I believe is for climbing stairs. But anyways, I looked at the patent as well and thought that exact same picture looked like what all the hype is about. Two great minds can't be wrong can they? 🙂 If you look at the patents Deko Products holds since '96 they are basically a bunch of biomed products and about 5 or 6 human transporter patents and patents on the controls for it. That in itself doesn't seem that revolutionary to me, inverted pendulum systems are pretty easy to control.
 
Capn: I am hearing from some people that it may float. I have no clue. I got the link to the patient off of someone else. Perhaps ArkAoss will be willing to shed some light on the subject?
 
I think it's a personal transportation device along the lines of a wheelchair, but able to replace cars. Quotes from the article on MSN that has been linked seems to support this. There was talk of &quot;not knowing if people are going to be allowed to use these&quot; same idea as a driver's license. Also, some of the people who have seen it said that cities will be built around the idea, same ways as roads govern our building paterns today. A cleaner more efficient car would deffinately change the world in many ways and some of the bigger corporations in the world would deffinately be pissed they missed the opportunity. (GM, Ford, etc.)

Also, the codename for the wheelchair project that goes up stairs and is pretty much all-terain was &quot;fred&quot;. Now this project's name is &quot;ginger&quot;. hmmmmm.....
