So.. What happened to Duke Nukem ForNEVER?

Biggets vaporware ever.

Remember it never came out since it's announcement a decade ago, and then suddenly they release this KICKASS trailer 1.5 years ago. And then there's nothing going on again.

Is this thing even in development anymore? Seriously.

yea its supposedly in the works, idk if its the biggest vaporware though, Team Fortress 2 ranks pretty high up there also.

I've been waiting for a thread about this. All we can do is pray it'll be out before the end of the world.

Maybe it just never existed in the first place. 😉 They've been pulling our legs all along! :Q

Call it the Dikatana syndrome, the later it is the worse it is.

It depends on how bad you want it. If you want it bad, you get it bad.
The worse you want it the worse you get it.

I recall seeing it at E3 three and four years ago, but nothing the last two years. I would think they put too much work into it to just scrap it altogether, but I could be wrong. I would think they could just upgrade the graphics to the latest version of the Unreal engine (Unreal 2 engine), but their lack of any updates makes me think is has become vaporware...but I hope I am wrong!

It amazes me that even the lowly (and I mean that fondly) Lithtech have managed to create two entire game engines and innumerable games since this thing has been in development. It was overdue 4 years ago!

For as long as it has taken to come out...it better be orgasm-inducing to live up to its hype. 😀

Every day that goes by another wooden crate gets added to the levels as "detail" work.

I think it actually came out a year ago. The graphics were so dated by then that everyone mistook it for 3D PacMan 2002 and didn't buy it.

It's going to have to be incredible to live up to the wait. And Team Fortress 2 isn't vaporware anymore. It's been cancelled. Crying shame.

They call it DukeNukem Forever because it's taking forever.

It's simply living up to its name!

But I too am running out of patience and bubblegum.

didn't you hear? the release date is set for april 1st of this year! 😉😀😉😀😉😀😉😀

noooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo!!!!! oh, say it isn't so. Oh, the horror. 🙁🙁🙁

So I guess Valve is going to maintain the status of being the "biggest one-hit wonder" of the computer gaming world forever, eh? sheesh, they make like one of the top 10 greatest games of all time, and then that's it. what a shame.

REAL NEWS!!!!!!

From Money.cnn.com (believe it or not)
The exceedingly popular (and controversial) "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" has sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide since its late October debut. Those sales, according to the company, made up 68 percent of Take Two's first quarter revenue of $408.8 million.

The video game publisher reported a first quarter profit of $50.5 million in its fiscal first quarter, compared to $34.8 million in 2002. Additionally, the company raised guidance for its full fiscal year to $970 million.

Write-downs and impairment costs totaled $14.5 million, with a significant portion of that blamed on the anticipated, but long-delayed action game "Duke Nukem Forever". First announced in 1998, the game still has no targeted release date. And company officials said there's no hope of it shipping within the next three months.

"While the team is vigorously working on the game, the risks associated with the extended development time caused us to re-evaluate the carrying value of this property
," said Take Two (TTWO: Research, Estimates) CEO Jeffrey Lapin in a conference call with analysts.
They almost $15 million - SO FAR - and are still considering SCRAPPING IT.

So now we know.
