The right stands for the same thing the left did in 2006 and 2008 which is "we aren't the other party"

You are right (and it is a good thing)

Liberals are like a kind in a candy store but instead of candy they have the printing presses. Conservatives are like their mother and sometimes they have to say "NO".

Liberals are like the mother saying to their young child, "not what I got the gun away from you, it's timefor you to get some healthcare at the doctor, let's go", and the child hiding the car keys.

Not the best analogy, as the child wasn't paid by a special interest to do the wrong thing. But, it's hard to avoid a bad analogy when trying to keep it close to Patranus's analogy.

Newsflash: Calling yourself a conservative doesn't make it so. Not fiscally anyway.

Modern conservative: a guy who will make excuses for a politician who silently takes $1000 from taxpayers to give to rich donors, while loudly promising to vote against $10 for the poor.
