my pcp&c psu went down in a fireball and need to get a replacement , was thinking about the aspire beast 680 12v1=22 12v2=24

all input is really greatly appreciated
tom

ya there is ,but when it literally exploded with sparkes and flame ,i just cant bring myself to trust it any more

OP's nick is sparkey...OK.

1: Are you pulling our leg.? If not you must link pics.

2: We need system specs, to include any high draw active cooling system.

3: Aspire PSUs did not aquior the handle of AssFire or Expire because they are good.

Pics please, as this is only the second time I've ever read about a pcp&c having serious issues.

Can you take pics of the failed power supply?

I can only suppose that your PSU was too underpowered for your rig setup. This is the first time, I ever saw in print that a pcp&c ever failing. What's you PSUs wattage?

510 sli 34a- 38a peak
turned on the box and called smokey the bear
i know that powering on takes a lot more juice then just using the pc but what an exciting few seconds it was

Well at least you have a 5 yr warranty.
You got one of the best rated SLI PC P&C. To blow one is mind boggling.
Only recommendation, RMA it.

G.Y. toooooo funny assfire or expiretoo good

this thing is only about 7 months old but i gotta tell ya it was pretty exciting there for a few seconds, will be rmaing it next week so for now will use a decent psu (build with it later)
and again thank everyone so much for the support i have recieved

now for the proof
the white icing looking stuff was a cap (i think) now its goo

Better pics PLEASE. Caps knock out PSUs. They are 8~12mm in diameter with the aluminum tops. Have any vented baby-poop? Are any bulged along the sides or domed on top? Are any leaning way over, tilting from venting/swelling at the bottom?

The white stuff your seeing is silicone used after assembly to keep coil noise in check or to pervent board componets from moving when the unit is bumped around after manufacture.

If you must move away from PCP&C, consider selling your RMAed unit and buying an Enhance ENS-0560G from eWiz.com for $103 or a high end Enermax or one of the newer Seasonic 600W units.

Dang!! Better pics Plz before the local pcp&c rep gets into this thread 😛

LOL.

OP, is the rig back up now? I hope there wasn't any secondary damage caused.

An AssFire could kill a system but I highly doubt a PCP&C would, it has all the protection
a good PSU needs.

I was just thinking back to the time when my RAID 5 array went down due to the PSU hiccuping. Abrupt lack of power is what I would be worried about causing damage.
