So what do you guys do to organize your music collection?

I have a bunch of double/triple copies of songs in different directories and locations. What do you guys do in order to organize your playlists and music collection? Also is there a way in winamp to delete the actual file of a song?

edit: anyone know how to help me organize my playlist?

I have a Music folder on one of my drives.

I then have it under 'Albums'.

I have another folder for 'random' songs that I don't have the complete album.

That is how I organise my music. Works for me.

I listen to most of my music throught he playlists I make.

I have an iPod and iTunes but don't really need to search for my stuff as I have it where I want.

My FLAC tunes are all legal, so I just have a genre folder (MBLUES, MCELTIC, MPOP, ) then an artist folder (Mann, Aimee), then one folder per CD (I'm With Stupid, Bachelor N0.2, Lost in Space). As I rip each CD (EAC + FLAC) I just create new artist/CD folders as needed.

I keep all of my music in one folder with files in the artist - track format. All files are properly tagged so organization is easy with Winamp Media Library.

Extra folders are a complete waste of time.

I have a folder called Music. In there I have 6, I think, subfolders, called like #-C, D-G, through the alphabet so I don't have all the music in one enormous folder. In each folder, if I have the complete album, I label it as such [Artist] - [Year Released] - [Album Title]. Each file in that folder is named [Artist] - [Track Number] - [Track Name].mp3. Tracks that I have that aren't part of a complete album are in one of the six subfolders named like [Artist] - [Track Name].mp3. I try to keep up on my ID3 tags using Tag&Rename but it's been a while since I've done that so there's probably a few that are off, but it's right for the most part.

tag and rename. then toss em all into itunes. its search abilities are snappy and hard to beat. i use it as my juke box. i only use winamp when i'm double clicking around.
