been writing web apps for 10 years

10 more years and i will hopefully have enough saved to retire

so i can spend more time on ATOT :awe:

I was an analytical chemist for a pharmaceutical company in quality assurance. I was lucky to retire at age 51. 64 now and enjoying every minute.

nice, i'm shooting for the same timeframe. no kids/spouse helps a lot. heck, i was tired of work by the time i was 30.

Tax consultant for a large accounting firm.

Not the typical tax consultant since I lean more towards an IT background instead of simply tax knowledge. Our typical projects are implementing tax compliance software for large corporations as well as configuring everything that goes along with it (ERP config, reporting, etc...).

It pays the bills and thankfully they know how to give a legit raise for the crap we go through, but long-term I just don't see myself making it to the top of the pyramid scheme. I just don't have the energy or the drive to dedicate 60-80 hour weeks anymore. Eventually I'll flip back to industry for something more cozy once I get myself well established.
