I like El Mayor a lot...it'll be one of the bottles in my shopping cart after I move to Phoenix in 1.5 weeks. Gotta start building that bar! 5% coupon every $250 I spend!

It's on the expensive side. I just like it because Sammy Hagar owns the company. :D
Actually, Sammy sold most of his stake in the company last year for 80 million. :Q
Still owns something like 20%, I think.

Sammy himself said that the best tequila he ever had was when traveling in Mexico and stopped in at a local tequila bar. I guess they have lots of local stuff that you can't get just anywhere.

Any people that would drink tequila with coke wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Thunderbird and Dom Perignon

Don Julio, Don Julio, and Don Julio.

BTW if you are buying Patron Silver the Don Julio comparable is Don Julio Blanco.

From Website:

"With a fresh agave expression and citrus notes, this tequila is called upon often when concocting innovative cocktails and the ultimate margarita, but is also perfect on its own or on the rocks.

Our Blanco was given a ?Classic? rating in Wine Enthusiast Magazine?s review of the top spirits of 2007. ?Classic? is their highest recommendation and was awarded after noted critic Paul Pacult reviewed over 250 spirits."

Doesn't get much better than patron.

It gets a lot better than Patron. Try opening your mind instead of getting your info from ads in Maxim.

Patron is pretty mid-grade to low-class compared to the "real" stuff. they do have their pricey versions, but it's like Johnny Walker's blue label compared to the much better malt scotches that you can find.

High end sipping Tequila is a world of difference from the traditional margarita or shots variety that most people are accustomed to. names escape me as I don't drink Tequila very often, but there are some great ones out there--if you're willing to fork over $50+ per bottle.

I am looking at the $50+/bottle (but want to stay under $100/bottle) for some good sipping tequila. I have jose for shots/margaritas and other cheap stuff. I would like to find a good bottle in the $50-100 range that I can just sip. I would also like to find a good bottle $100+ for special occasion type drinking.

Milagro Tequila - High quality, very smooth, and doesn't leave you with a crappy hangover the next morning... It gives you a nice high-quality tequila hangover the next day! I believe it was about $50/bottle, but that was many years ago.

a good sipping Tequila is something else entirely. I keep meaning to brush up on those, but I never do :(

I guess I already have enough of a a preference for spendy bottles of liquor to keep me just shy of a penniless alcoholic. ....kind of like Bleeding Gums Murphy and his addiction to Faberge eggs :)

Best tequila I've ever had was Casa Noble, it cost me $87.
