i'm mowing the grass today after work and notice a funky smell in the air...

I look over to my neighbor's yard and see several buzzards(or some kind of carrion-eating birds) near the driveway...

uh-oh....

I get a closer look and they're feasting on a freakin skunk.

that's just freakin great.

Since the party is 2 days away, I had to suck it up and dispose of the leftovers(neighbor is a single woman who wasn't home)... it was not a pretty, or good smelling site.

using my longest shovel, I dumped it in a plastic trashbag & took it to the dumpster. BUT, there's still an disgusting odor in the air... and, it still smells bad inside our house! I hope it's stink-bag or whatever didn't burst and flow all over the yard... ack...

I used to work at a large factory that was out in a desert and was spread out. Where we worked is a couple miles from where the parking lot is.

Every few years, there was a skunk population explosion.

On the way to shift change, some of the drivers of the van we used would try to hit a skunk to give the next shift a ripe vehicle to enjoy.

One guy hit a skunk, but didn't break it open. It sat in the summer sun for about a week and a half.

Some VIP's came to visit one day and some nimrod decided to nail that dead skunk while they were in the office near by. (It wasn't me, really)

We scattered at that time. Of course the van was trashed.

Later, a couple bigwigs were spotted in that parking lot in their suits with a shovel.

jeeez. i just went outside & it still stinks.. not as bad as earlier, but there's no doubt about it... i wonder if there's anything I can do to cover/get rid of that smell.. we thought about dumping a bunch of dirt over the area - wife said to add baking soda to absorb the smell..

not sure if that would work
