Bah, I had a customer cuss me out because of $0.01. He ordered a biscuit and two senior coffees. I said, $1.23. He said it was $1.22. I said, no, it's $1.23. We were slow, so I worked it out on paper (just incase the register was wrong).

It came out $1.225. He said, "See, $1.22". I said "Unless you have a half cent, you're going to need to give me $1.23 and write the rest off as a loss."

He started cussing about McDonald's and the governement trying to take his money. I wanted to say that since he was on Social Security, the government gave him the money in the first place, but I didn't.

He and some other old people actually sued our store because we raised the price of a senior coffee from $0.27 to $0.42. Sued.

They lost of course. The judge laughed them out of court.
Even preceding digits round the 5 down, so $1.22. 😉

The moral of the story: People are somewhat smart normally, but they turn into 3 year olds when they enter customer mode.

wow, i didn't know we had the mcdonalds political lobby against customer service here on the boards.

First, I don't eat at mcdonalds. Their menu is the epitome of everything wrong with our food system today. Fake food chemically enhanced to smell and taste good.
If you don't believe me, go read Fast Food Nation (for why McDonalds is the debbil), then the South Beach Diet (to see why that food makes you so fat).

Normally when I go to fast food restaurants, I order water (because I'm on the aforementioned diet). If they EVER tried to charge me for water, I would not go back to that restaurant. I don't mind if it's a little dixie cup full of water, if I'm paying $5 for a meal, they better give me water.
And if I eat in the restaurant, I have never, ever filled my cup with soda instead of water.

BTW, if McDonalds doesn't want to attract cheap customers, quit advertising the low priced menu and chicken anus nuggets for $1.

Yeah. It's just on-sale McNuggets.

6 piece is a buck, 10 piece is like 1.59, 20 piece is 2.99.. quite the deal considering their normal prices.

A 10 piece meal is 4.50.

It's actually cheaper at Wendys.. two 5 piece nuggets = 1.98+.99 fry and .99 drink = $3.96.

Gotta have some variety sometimes though. And I like McDonalds sweet & sour sauce better than Wendys.. but Wendy's BBQ sauce better than McD's.. lol

Hows that ?? Mcds have $1 fries and $1 drink too.

I said it's 4.50 for a 10 piece meal. Are you saying that if I bought the 10 piece nuggets, fry and drink seperately, it would be cheaper? 😛

Why not just buy 2 six pieces at McDonald's?

Rofl, people are so cheap. They want their cheap $5 meal and they want their free water and they want it supersized for 10 cents.

You can't have free water and a self-serve drink station. So as a customer, pick one. Do you want to be able to get refills for 25 cents or do you want to get free water. If you have both then there is NO REASON to buy a soda. Since you are only paying for a cup which you can then use at the drink station. The logic... so simple.

I see no problem paying 25 cents for water. If I wanted it for free that bad, I would have brought it from home in a squirt bottle. I pay _2 DOLLARS_ for bottled water if I want to buy it at work.

Its got nothing to do with being cheap. I have outgrown my tolerance for soda/sugar water years ago, and I prefer to drink plain water. Not that consumer ripoff, overpriced bottled water, but plain simple potable tapwater.

Most states have laws against charging for water (or the cup)-its a cost of doing business for a restaurant. The restaurants know this, but many insist on charging anyway, (rightfully) assuming that most people will not put up a fuss for their blatant disregard of the law.
