Of course I had to sneak my car in there

I was helping my sister buy a car and she decided on an Accord after looking through some Infinities..
Let me tell you it was classic salesman tactics.......
Sorry no cliff notes....try to be as brief as possible

* Sticker was $26200( for an EX V6) with a spoiler for +660. We all know invoice is $23200 +$500(delievry fee).
* She had CASH so we decided that she would buy for $24500 + taxes. tag, title....thats about $500-700 over invoice.
* We went to "THE ROOM" and after about 10mins.....he came back with some mumbo jumbo finanacing crap.
* I basically told he we had CASH and we would pay $24500.
* LEFT, came back wanting $25450......blah balh.
* Left again and came back wanting 24900......blah blah.
* More blah blah and he begged us at $24700.

* So we said we were willing to do CASH @24600 or CASH @20,000 and finance the rest(she wanted to build credit)
* So we agreed on the $20,000 + finance and then the paperwork came and there is a $450 "DEALER FEE"....I knew it wasn't right but I was not positive.
* While she did some paperwork, I called my friends but noone gave me a define answer for "DEALER FEE".
* On my instinct, I told my SIS it was BS........

* After about 2hrs there, I gave them an ultimatum.....$24500 CASH + taxes tag title or we're leaving...
* Let me tell you they had everybody trying to explain to me why this "DEALER FEE" was legit.
* They kept telling me they would lose money if they waived this "DEALER FEE".
* I laughed at them and we kept walking out and they followed us...
* So basically my SIS said she will pay $24700 + taxes tag title.......THEY AGREED !!!

So after 3 hrs of BS tactics....she drove home with the car.

ON a different note.....I took her to a Mazda place to check out the 6 before checking out the Accord.
That is one beautiful car especially with the sports kit and chrome trim.
An even more gorgeous car is the RX-8 also especially with a body kit......that is a stunning car in person.

Oh, rossman....it was a 2003 with 6 miles.
The only difference between the EX V6 2003 and 2004 is the Siruis or XM radio but the 2004 was also like $500 more sticker.

She pretty much paid TMV price according to Edmunds.

I will take pictures tommorow.....it has a gorgeous interior....way better than the 6 but the 6 I like the shape better.

Actually this was my second NEW CAR buying experience
The first one was painless as we showed the AD and bought the car
This was exactly BS tactics that I've heard from other......witnessed myself finally.

Nice car and good deal on the haggling.

I would have shot for $22,900 out the door but that's just me.

and $495 destination fee ;)

Saw a brand new 2003 Toyota Camry LE automatic on loss leader ad for $16,650 out the door.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo tempting but the wife likes the color of our 02 Accord SE.

If you would have gone through the fleet or internet sales you could have got it for invoice +200 without any haggling.

Makes me wonder how much CostCo Auto Sales could have gotten this car for?

I'm not experience in car shopping as RossMan.
Actually I forgot to mention her car broke down on Wed and she wanted another car by Fri or Sat.....very impatient.

Unless I had a loss leader ad I'd have to waste 2-3 hours of "haggling" just like you two did.

That $450 DEALER FEE is total BS, glad you two didn't fall for it.

Hey a lot better than my friend who just bought a G35... he basically did no haggling... took whatever the salesman tacked on... and ended up financing it for 6 years... which added close to $10k to final price... spoiled punk. :p

She was actually gonna buy an Infiniti i35 but I told her that car is bland(plus FWD) and go for the G35 instead.
She test drove the G35 and didn't like it (confused).
While bargaining for the I35, they pissed her off and she didn't want an Infinity anymore.....I wasn't there.

Before I brought my 2000 Honda Accord Coupe back in 2000, I did all the research: Carsdirect, Edmund, ect. I walked in with a target price and the Honda Sales said "No way" then I walked out, they chased and deal was closed in 10 minutes without a penny over my target price. I hate haggling.

I would have shot for $22,900 out the door but that's just me.

Rossman lives in Portland therefore you don't have to pay sales tax.

that's when you go see the same salesman right after... he'll be more willing to give you a good deal since he just raped your friend so successfully :)
