Were the cats making cheeseburgers?
Grow lamps....their indoor catnip farm is quite impressive.
Sorry to the OP didnt mean to thread hijack.
So I checked the meter this morning
The previous reading was 4518. What the bill says is 8058, the meter says 6203 and thats after a month and a half from the 4518 reading. So unless I used 8000kwh of power I dont know what is up. So now I have to file a dispute, and the account is in my roommates name (who doesn't even live here atm). How rediculous is that.
They more than likely mistook the 6 for an 8. Humans read the meters usually so error can happen.
You don't have to pay the $500. Call them up and just tell them the situation. You aren't making changes to the account and they can just send the guy back out to re-read and re-bill you.
To the OP...they probably took your CC# at contract time and if you re-read your contact will find you gave them a right to charge any late payments, cancellation fees, etc to that card. There is usually a clause too that they can charge the card if new usuage is discovered after an account is closed.
