Yes, if you mean "poorly managed, with constantly shifting priorities, rigid preconceptions of design, and too few resources." I don't think they lacked for highly skilled people.

SoE sucks and despite my rule "Never EVER play another game that is in any way shape or form attached to SoE EVER again" I had such high hopes for V:SoH that I had to try it. Lucky for me I got into the closed beta and boy was it a good looking game. But boy was it buggy and incomplete! Saved me from buying this POS.

I think the reason it did so poorly is mainly for the fact that it ran very poorly on a huge majority of peoples machines. That was really my main complaint about the game, it ran like crap. I will give it a try again when the server merge happens (when is that again?) .

Actually, EQ2 is a SOE game as it is pretty decent now.

Yeah i agree EQ2 is IMO the best MMO on the market at the moment by miles. Vanguard sucked..LOL

I intend to check out Vanguard again later in the year, after they've had more time to polish it. For the moment, EQ2 is my MMO of choice, though I don't get enough time to really play it. My monk has been sitting at 59 for more than a month now.

I've played it for a few days now and I agree it is good. On the negative side, I'm on Crushbone and you don't see alot of people. Freeport is barren. Maybe 'cause I'm still in the Commonlands at level 16 and the veterans have long moved out.

I have been following vanguard and Sony will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to make that game any good.


I also tried EQ2 again and I was impressed with the changes. I left before because it was
so frustrating to play. There seem to be quite a few people still playing but it seems to somewhat top heavy because you level so fast. They also added a new exp bar and skill tree to get acheivement points that promote exploration and finishing quests.

It's kinda funny that Vanguard tried to be like the old EQ and the new EQ is trying to be more like WoW. I remember when it didn't bother me so much when I had to stare into a spell book to level 30 something or do time consuming corpse runs. It added to the game. I don't think PITA stuff like that works anymore. Vanguard isn't quite like that but it isn't as player friendly as other MMORPGs.

Any confirmations on if there will be a "relaunch" or at least the next huge update? I recall reading about a relaunch from Brad on the forums a while back, but that was before the buyout.
