So urine does not help with Jellyfish stings..

From the summer quiz here.

The correct answer is false. If you are ever unfortunate enough to get stung by a jellyfish, you'll have some small consolation in knowing that there is no need to add insult to injury by asking someone to pee on you. Experts recommend carefully scraping off any tentacles that have adhered to the skin and treating the sting with vinegar, baking soda, ice packs, salt water, hot water or even meat tenderizer ? but definitely NOT urine.

So to any Friends fans, I guess this isn't the way to do it =/

What's even funnier though is that on that episode Joey referenced seeing this on the Discovery channel, and here's a quiz on the Discovery Channel site that disproves it..

This brings back memories of being stunk my a Portugese Man-O-War 😱 I was a stupid kid - saw this bubble floating in the water, first instinct was to pick it up - it stung my hand, then I rubbed the crap all over my chest trying to get it off. Stupid - lol 😛

Regular old ammonia works very well.

Rub sand over the sting (to remove any adherent tenticle), then apply a pad with ammonia on it.

Man O'War are the worst, Sea Nettles are uncomfortable, but Man O'War is like a row of bee stings.

FWIW

What does a jellyfish sting really do, if untreated?
Well, rbloedow got stung and wasn't treated ... :Q

The lifeguards just put some meat tenderizer on it, and I just had to wait for the pain to subside. took a shower and stuff - still hurt like a mofo for a couple of hours after getting stung. It's probably the worst constant pain I've ever felt.

I was downtown last week, and just walking around,i had no idea so many people were being stung by jellyfish-how do those jellyfish get onto those sidewalks?
