Oh please OP. Michael Jackson, like him or not, is one of the biggest names in the world. He has an album that sold over 100 million copies. He's been among the most prominent people in the music scene for decades. On top of that, he got a ridiculous amount of non-music related press in the 90s. He's a household name, a household face. If I see a picture of Farrah Fawcet I think oh yea, I know her - but the mere mention of the name doesn't ring a bell. How many people can say that about MJ?

Michael Jackson suddenly dying is HUGE news.

Meh. He's as big a has-been as the other two were. I'd probably care the same if Rick Springfield or Steve Perry croaked.

The only reason anyone talked about MJ at all the last fifteen years was because he was a perv and a walking freak show.

I can't tell if you're trolling or just ignorant.

Thriller isn't the best selling album of all time because MJ was a freak show. he's one of the most famous people in the world and a major music icon along with the likes of The Beatles

Is that all you have, that was what 25 years ago? I contend that he would be no more famous than any other 80's musical act if he wasn't a perv and a weirdo.

No more famous than any other 80s musician??? Do the words "best selling album of all time" not resonate with you? Or perhaps "#4 all time selling artist"? The people ahead of him are the Beatles, Elvis, and Bing Crosby. That is the company he is in. People STILL talk about Elvis' death.

Nobody cared that much when George died. I don't even know if Ringo is still alive, and the only reason anyone talks about Paul is because of that gold-digging peg-leg who stole all his money.
