On the new house! :D
Meet with the builder tomorrow to begin selecting options, finalize lot selection. Do whatever else. I have no idea. Maybe throw back a few cold hops/ Who knows? Not I, I've never done this before.

Yes, get a garage and make sure you get a pit in one of the stalls. It isn't that much more and it makes it so easy to change the oil and work under the car. Friend did this and says it was one of the best things he could of done.

Garage. Check. Hmmm. Two car option. Check.
Sun room. Check.
Main door. Walk out basement. Door to deck. Check, check, check.

Garage covered. "den" covered. Escape routes covered. I think I'm set! :)

I could kick myself for not doing that when I built my garage. Never entered my mind until months after it was built.

Great suggestion.

Don't forget the secret door that leads to the underground tunnel and ends at the nudie bar.

Most important decision will be which building lot. Location...location...location

Two car garage? Make that three! At least!

And be sure to get your house wired for a computer network; two or three lines to every room and a central connection box.

I think I will do the non-electrical wiring myself. i want 2 phone, 2 cable and 2 ethernet in every room, so I can have 1 jack of each type on oppostie sides of the rooms. May just do 1 of each in the bedrooms, but definately 2 cable in the living room.

Three car garage isnt an available option withou special arrangements, and I aint a high roller like that. Course, I fully plan on having a new house wihtin 4 years of moving in to this one so not a big deal really.

And let the neighbors kid latch onto the "spill " and surf on my dime? I think not! Wire the house!!
If you are building new, add a Standby Generator and Transfer Switch for those times when power goes away. A dual fuel Generator is a good idea as well.

Given the choice, I'll always prefer wires to wireless. I guess I'm just not ready to share network traffic with any snoopy neighbors. :)

Dont forget speaker wire!

Also. Might want to do a driveway 4-5 feet wider than the regular 2 car driveway. Me and dad constantly spar over the width when we park 2 cars outside daily.

"YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO PARK"
"I PARK FINE. YOU'RE THE ONE THATS 3 FEET OVER"
"AT LEAST I'M NOT KILLING THE GRASS BY DRIVING ON IT EVERY NIGHT"
(Both) "YOU DONT DESERVE TO HAVE A LICENSE!"

God I love my family. :)

Might want to put in a good exhaust fan for the bathroom. 60" belt driven with a 3HP dayton motor should be plenty. :p

Den AND big garage is good, however I'm leaning towards den. Its an excellent place to enteritain for the guys to hangout and watch the game or to place a pool table/wet bar. Can I interest you in a pepsi machine? :D

Why a new house within 4 years?

Multiple reasons.
1) Career advancement. Wihtin 4 years I should *hopefully* have nearly doubled my salary. plus, my wife's job by then will be doing well.
2) Kids. I have 3. 6, 2 and 3 months. They are going to all want there own rooms once they get older so....Gonna have to go from 3 bedroom (now) to 4 bedroom minimum.
3) Time to move. I believe the average is you should upgrade houses every 5 years. The hous now is a tad small for my liking, but its all i can afford. I want 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath with den basement, hardwood floors nig kitchen etc etc 3 car garage. So, this is just a starteer home for me.

But, all in all, its still MINE, and thats what counts! :)
