As title states/ I just ordered a 3.0E from Newegg, can't stand waiting forever. 🙁 I Watercool with a chiller.. time will tell what the outcome is. I cannot sit buy and wait for others to report whats up/ so I took the plunge .... wish me luck!

Edit; Ok, so the chip idled at a decent temp,but trying to do anything that takes any oomph soared the temps right up there. I popped it out, and am Happy again with my northwood. Just wanted to clarify that. It is not too bad at stock, but start clocking it over 3600 or so, and then open the windows and start screaming Fire 😀 J/K, but it does run too hot for me.

Well, first off thanks/ secondly, the Only reason I am getting 1, is that I believe I have a case/cooling system that will accomadtae it. I have a hand made Case, that i built, with 2x110v Fans with incoming air in the front, and 2x110v outgoing fans in the rear, All are 120mm, and my drives are on the other side of the case, with a 120mm of the same persuassion on front and rear, not to mention a Dual redundant supply for exhaust, My cpu to vid, to NB are cooled in 1 loop. I think I can rely on my cpu block to help cool the mosfets a bit, as I am un-insulated and with the air flow /cooling loss of the un-insulated block, it should help some.

You get that thing up and running come over to DC forums and we'll help you burn it in with a Seti install 😉

Gonna try to get my 2.8E cookin Seti thursday 😀

Im thinking about it, but only because Im bored with my 3.0c and dont think its that great of an overclocker. Im maxed out at a hair over 4gig. I want more. 🙁 Ive had it since June.. thats pretty good.

Well i am running a WU, that does 3925, but won't budge over that/ I figure this will be more of a learning expierience for me, than anything else, if need be, I will try to fine tune my case a bit. nice to do that when you can.

Yup. I am aware of all that, I am more concerned with the mosfets than anything else. I can lower my fluid temp some if I want, so that shouldn't be an issue. I guess I just want something different.

If you wanted something different & slower you could have just gone AMD. 😉 😉 😉

Come on,lets not start the Intel versus AMD thing here. I am getting a Precott because I am curious,as I have heard mixed results about them and want to see for myself what 1 can do, either way, it'll be nice to mess with a new chip. I have my main rig Water Cooled with a P4P800, and another setup Air cooled with a P4C800-e with an Alpha Pal, I'll likely try it in the P4C800 first to get an idea how it runs, then swap it over to the P4P800 and see what gives. I also have a New P4P800 in the box that I can use if I blow 1 or the other, so Just sitting here twiddling my thumbs waiting for Newegg to ship 😀

ok, I put the 3.0E in my p4c800-e air cooled with an alpha pal/ temp at idle according to speed fan,
29c= Board
38c=cpu

1 instance of D2OL running,

30c=Board
50c=cpu....

This is at 3.0 default volts, yada yada... I don't see the real high temps here, and its warm in here today. I'll clock it a tad on this board, and pop it in the water cooled board tomm.
My temps with my previous 3.0c were 30c idle(approx)/ 34cc idle. In this same setup.

220fsb, 30c idle=board/ 40c idle=cpu 1/1 ratio.
230fsb 30c idle=board/ 41c idle=cpu.... default voltage.

Edit= Spelling

my 2.8e idles between 36 and 38 and peaks out at 47-48 after 2 hours of prime 95. This is with a sp-94 and a quiet 90 mm fan on an Asus p4p800 board

:Q

Compare that to a EE@4gig.

An A64 @ 2.6GHz is just as fast if not faster than a P4 EE 4GHz. Read your CPU reviews some time 😉

Hmmm more flaming/ there has to be a point where we as adults, can just sluff off Flames folks. C'mon....

Just to add to the Prescott info. My 2.4 Prescott is Prime 95 stable 8 hours at default vcore at 176 FSB or 3169Mhz. 42C after running all night.
Currently seeing what Vcore 185 FSB takes.

Edit: Prime 95 stable 7 hours at 185 FSB or 3330 Mhz @ 1.4875Vcore in bios. 1.424-1.44 actual under load. 45C after running all night.

190FSB = 3420 Mhz stable 7 hours at 1.55 Vcore. 49C after running all night.
