So this week I am forced to drive....

This and it sucks:

So, my 07 CTS is in for warranty repairs for the following:

- Airbag service light came on a couple of times last week, the dealership blames this on a bad harness for driver side airbag and has ordered a new airbag harness from GM

- First time I try to use the A/C in this hot weather and despite proper-R134a levels still not cooling

- Side turn signal bulb is out

- A recall has just been made for cracking brake lines, I was to be notified but since I brought mine in they notified then and there

So the car might be done Friday/ Saturday and till then I will be driving this brand new $45000 piece of crap.

Don't you feel sorry for me? I do.

I know you might be saying what is DK smoking, but trust me on this, the 2010 CTS is all show and no go. I want my 07 back :sob:

I don't know if it's the new transmission in these cars or maybe it's because of the fun inhibiting AWD system or maybe extra weight but I can't wait to get my CTS back, that was a real fun car.

It seems the only way to enjoy a newer CTS is if it's manual + RWD + Direct Injection, because I can feel a lack of power I did not feel in my older car with less power.

This one just doesn't excite me like the 07 does and I can't put my finger on it. I am just surprised I am driving a car worth twice what my car is worth and I can't stand how it drives. It's no where near as agile or fun as min is.

Anyone else arrive at the same conclusion?

Oh and I would take the interior of the 07 over this 2010 any day. No where near the same feel.

Now I am very confident I will not be upgrading to a second generation CTS for my next purchase.

Poor you, you get to drive a new car that you (more than likely) don't have to worry about breaking down on your daily drive, grinding into third, dying at stop lights/signs, worry about the rear-view coming up if you tap it, or it getting wet inside if it rains.

Poor you.

Overweight, underpowered, tiny interior, narrow ass.

It's got a great mug shot though.

CTS-V is the only one worth getting in this generation.

I'm waiting for a styling refresh that broadens the shoulders and improves everything a little bit more.

Exactly my point.

I couldn't believe I was saying this CTS sucks, but as I took off from the dealership I was expecting a ride miles ahead in quality from my older much cheaper CTS, was I wrong.

I kept telling myself it might be the Traction Control then I turned it off and nothing. It might be the AWD...but I don't know AWD is supposed to give you better straight driving performance due to that improved grip, but no.

But I think a Direct Injection Manual RWD 2010 CTS would be the CTS to get if one wants decent performance without paying the CTS-V tax

Sounds like maybe the newer CTS has a fatter ass to haul around. Would explain why it's not as nimble and feels like it doesn't have enough power. Either way, it's still a Caddy and I'm sure it rides smooth and quiet.

The 2010 3.0 LF1 would probably feel gutless next to the 2007 3.6 LY7, especially with AWD.

The LY7 has more torque way down lower.

LY7 255 hp (190 kW) @ 6200 rpm 252 lb·ft (342 N·m) @ 3100 rpm
LF1 270 hp (201 kW) @ 7000 rpm 223 ft·lb (302 N·m) @ 5700 rpm

It also may have the lower-spec suspension. There are two or three levels of suspension tuning in the new CTS. I want to say you can't get the top-level (i.e. sportiest) one without the stick

Well, in a car at this price you would expect driving pleasure with all choices. I doubt my 07 has anything but the lowest level suspension (I will be changing some things soon though) but it's a blast to drive and very comfortable as well.

I have made it my mission to test drive a 2010 Direct Injection model (hopefully manual if that can be found here) as soon as I return this piece of crap. I can't believe I got the 3.0 L engine. I completely forgot that the second generation has three engine options (LF1, LY7 & LLT). I knew chances of geting a DI model were slim but I thought I was given a 3.6L one just like my 07.

If my repair will be taking a long time I will attempt to get them to take this one back and give me a RWD one, at least with the LY7. But I doubt they would agree...well the service lady is very nice, she just might hear me out :D

The LF1 is DI... :D

Well I really meant to say DI 3.6, but I didn't know 3.0 is DI, how come it doesn't have a DI badge like the DI 3.6? Nonetheless it's still under powered, I must test the DI 3.6 and see how that performs.

LY7 makes it's torque down low even compared to the LLT...3100 vs 5200 revs...

Driving pleasure is extremely subjective. My GF gets more driving pleasure out of her 2000 Nissan Altima slushbox than my 5-speed Legacy GT.

And I stand corrected: for the 1st gen CTS, there are four suspension levels. Yours very well may have a higher end one, while your loaner has a lower end one.

You just sound like a picky bastard to me.

Yea the new 3.0L was replacing the 2.8 in the first gen and the 3.6Di replaces the 3.6Non-Di from the first gen.

Also I have seen some people point out that some 3.0's came from the factory without the throttle setup correct. If it gets reset, simple from what I have read, it seems more "punchy" from the start. But the 3.0 was made to get better gas milage, not replace the more torque 3.6 from Gen1. Let alone with AWD.

Absolutely sir, I am the pickiest of bastards to have ever lived.
I believe if one pays decent money, he should get his money's worth and maybe more.

I have driven some of these and know exactly what you're talking about. I always liked the CTS until I drove that. It's like wtf... it's got nothing?? Good to hear they're not all like that. :D

Never got to drive a CTS-V though.
