Hey we were wondering if you wanted to purchase the plotter for 980 bc our reserve was 1000 and it didnt go over that. Please call us at 623-418-5860 if you want it for that we can do paypal tonight and send it to you on Tuesday. Or e-mail us in the next ten minutes. Bc we were gonna give other people the offer if you dont take it. Thank you!

^THIS^ should have been your first clue that he/she was full of sh*t. Used car salesmen have been using this line since the dinosaurs.

My poor non internet savvy dad also had this happen to him. Is there nothing more the OP can do short of hiring an assassin on the ahole that ripped him off

I got a nice 500 feedbacks and people have hard time sending me 1k.. even though I sell servers thats over 1k most of the time..

You do realize the purpose of a credit card right? It's used as a medium to protect yourself from scammer when you know fully well you're buying from a scammer but stepped into the trap anyway. Which is exactly what you did in this case. Do a charge back w/ your CC and if they're any good, they'd have no problem giving your money back and telling eBay/PayPal to fvck off. eBay/PayPal ain't the mafia you know.

You wanna tell me WHY you haven't done a chargeback on your Credit Card yet?

I just got the results of the dispute from paypal this past weekend.
I read that paypal will throw me into collections if I do that. I dont' want to mess up my credit.
Anyone have any info on this?

Oh and Meredith is a GUY

If they try to take it to collections, you can get it dismissed/removed.

It's up to you; you can either be out $800 and let it slide, or you can fight for your money.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act is your friend. Read up on it and use if if they try to take it to collections.

I read the person's feedback, it annoys me to no end how people will put comments like "No communication, slow shipping, etc." then give positive feedback. It makes the person look like they're a good bet to do business with, when from all of the bad comments they're obviously NOT.

I wouldn't have trusted this person with a $1000 transaction, not with their history of late shipping, poor product quality, and lack of communication, but I agree that you need to get your ccard company involved. Call a rep and explain to them what happened, likely they'll do the chargeback and deal with Paypal for you.

Call the police, Over $500 is usually a felony charge in amny states. Also cal lthe local police, not yours his local police. Your local police has no jurisdiction in other counties.

Excellent idea. Once we get a plan figured out if he doesn't hand it over I'll call the cops for you and give them your info. He should have no excuse when we show up to collect.

I called the police out there and they told me I had to file charges at my local police station. The local police said 😕
I think they were just blowing me off. It bothers me that someone can steel over $1000, admit it through email, and the cops will not do anything about it.
Maybe if someone local would call them, they would do more.

I imagine that if someone knocked on their door they would hand it over.
If someone wants to stop by their house for me, I'll pay them a recovery fee 😉

I've been a little down on eBay recently as well.

I had a PSP up for sale which I got a great price for...and what do I get? Someone asking me to ship to the Nigerian embassy. Well, I'm not that stupid. Reported the guy and they said that the account had been 'taken over'. Now, I'm happy to do my part to get rid of these miserable Nigerian scam artists...but more than that...they WASTED my time with this transaction. Thank goodness I wasn't stupid enough to send the thing to Nigeria!
We've all read the threads and articles and stuff, I just figured that I wouldn't ever encounter it..so you never know...

Gotta keep your wits about you on eBay. Its certainly not as ...nice...a place as it was a few years ago.

Oh..and get this fraudulent A-hoel for all he is worth. Have you considered lobbying against him to eBay? Maybe you can get his account taken away? That's miserable that happened to you, lightpants. It's wild and wonderful out there...
