I couldn't make this up if I tried.

Customer: "I'm about to beg you for something and it ain't gonna be pretty."

Me: Thinking "Where do we keep the shotgun?"

Customer: "I bought a new Dell and I need my Data "transfused" from my old PC to my new one."

Me: Hmmmm, yes I see (While nodding head and supressing a sh1t eating grin from ear to ear).

Customer: "My friend owned a business in Silicon Valley and even he couldn't do it. He says data "transfusion" isn't possible due to volatile memory banks."

Me: "Well, he has a point, but we would use a hard drive to hard drive direct transfer method. It's been proven to be quite effective."

Customer: "REALLY, you mean I can get it done, HOW?!?!?!"

Me: "Just bring in both machines and I'll do it for $XX.XX"

Customer: "I can't unplug the machines."

Me: "Why not"

Customer: "I'll lose everything if I do that won't I"

Me: "........."

So the guy ends up bringing in the two machines and repeatedly used the term "Data Transfusion". Man, my day was soooo boring until then. Thanks weird dude!

transfused vs transfer

Doesn't sound too bad to me. How about you help him instead of making fun of him.

Maybe the business his friend in Silicon Valley owned was a sandwich shop or a dry cleaner?

But you see, he did help him.

Although he didn't tell him his lingo wasn't right, he fixed the problem for him.

actually "jigga" is the proper way to pronounce it, you'll find a lot of math majors pronounce it like that

most likely older math majors though

as for the transfusion, i did have a lady call up and ask my how to shut down her win 98 machine

edit* just read the entire post and that is pretty funny

Not unusual, there's a shut-down flaw in Win98 - and a fix for it.
They'll sit and churn for hours sometimes until you force them down or load the fix.

what i don't get is when people ask you to install something and then ask you how to install it

you reply with something like "oh you just have to take the old one out and put the new one in, make sure the jumpers are right, and the machine should recognize it"

then they are pissed that you charge 30 bucks

time and time again i want to tell them that if they think it so easy they are welcome to go home and do it themselves (i'd do it with a smile too)

Actually, I believe either pronunciation is correct.
