Disagree all you want, but he's absolutely correct.

Both how strong the fear of getting caught, and how much they fear/respect the results of getting caught, play into how often we see this crap, and crime in general.

Public humiliation, even just locking people in the stocks in the middle of town, had quite the way of getting the message across.
Things happen outside the control of both the individual and police/guards - sometimes simply because they turn away, participate, or because they simple missed it. Put a child rapist in such a situation - I would only hope whoever got to 'em would draw things out.

In a way it is the same thing and in a way it isn't.

I'm all for public humiliation - and I've even considered having lashing replace jail time - it's the sort of mindless barbarism I'm criticizing.

There's also a lot more behind crime prevention than 'deterrence'.

you guys gotta realize, there are people who will do what they want (sick and depraved... no matter what.. it's just that some creatures are, evil..

they lack fear, of death, of anything... they get caught, they off themselves... or find lust in the new world they create... even if it's hellish to you.. it's what they like.

and then when those that do enter my world I kick their fucking door down and stab them in the chest.

I would have made sure nothing connects me to it.
 
I have previously lived in the child abuse capital of Texas, I've seen/heard worse, but yes this is quite sickening. Most of the time incidents are sheer stupidity and didnt necessarily start off malicious. Don Vito is correct in his statement that its "not an uncommon by-product of young, unsophisticated people of limited resources (mentally, financially, in logistical support, in role models and otherwise) raising infant." Most of the most shocking cases I have seen/heard of around where I had lived had been committed by 16-24 year olds that were poor and uneducated.

You people talking about how you want to torture this guy ARE sick. By all accounts, he is a complete piece of shit and we don't need people like that so we should probably just kill him, but we don't have to be angry man-children about it.
