I don't buy into the political movements surrounding global warming, though, nor carbon trading or other attempts to manipulate individuals and countries.

Want to stop human caused global temperature as much as possible? Consume less. Don't use or buy crap you don't need, and make do with what you have. In other words, be thrifty and efficient. Buying additional "green" products is just retarded, and so is spending more money on those products. Materialism is what drives excess waste. If we curb that, we prevent a lot of other bad things, like crashes and downturns in the economic system due to people spending more than they have, and the indirect funding of criminal organizations and despotic governments. Most of the crap we buy - and I have been an offender in the past, with e-waste - just ends up in landfills or melted down in China.
