I only wish he could have gone on to accomplish greater things in life.

He is now where he IS accomplishing greater things in our lives. He is on the right hand side of God. Life on earth is not the only thing in the grand scheme of things. His death has touched many lives right in this forum. Bless you for sharing. We all mourne the loss as well. He is in a better place now,and proud to have you as a friend.

I don't even know what to write anymore so I'll end it there.

I am sorry.

And Thank You.

Words cannot heal a troubled soul in the face of such an unmitigated disaster.

The best you can do is lead your life by example. Oppose war, treat your fellow human beings with respect and love and move on with dignity and resolve....slowly.

10-25-2003 A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter was shot down Saturday by ground fire near Tikrit

It was the second time a U.S. helicopter has been downed by hostile fire since President Bush (news - web sites) declared an end to major combat in Iraq on May 1.

Why are we not still declared at WAR?

This is nuts.

This is nuts. The end of hostilities was announced too soon. There should have been more troops in the first place to finish the job.

Three more U.S. troops killed in Iraq

I'm going to show my ignorance here, but when was the war declared over? If I remember correctly, Bush claimed that major hostilities were over, not the war. Was there a different incident, that I'm not aware of, where the war itself was declared over?

It wasn't declared over - only the MAJOR combat operations. He specifically stated there would be more fighting and such and did NOT declare the war over.

Bush can't declare that the "war is over" because that would trigger certain legal obligations. One example: releasing Iraqi prisoners of war. So intead, you get "Mission Accomplished!" and a scenario in Iraq where war really drags on and on. Just the dull boredom of policing the country punctuated by low-level violence and guerilla attacks.

As I said, the end of hostilities was announced too soon. It was IMO a purely political ploy.

I just got the message that one of my friends in Bagdad was shot and killed last night. Thank you, Bush, for wanting to protect and free a people who just want to turn around and kill us. Godd thinking, you asshat.

RIP Sgt. Adam Parrish
You were truly one who turned his life around into something great, just to have it ended needlessly.

I'm sure he's happy that you think of his death as meaningless :|
