I always hated working around Indians. You'd see them as inspectors a lot of the time. They'd just stand there and stare at you. You wish they'd say something, but when they do you can't understand them, so you wish they'd shut up :^D

They've all been very nice down to the last though. I just wish I could understand them better :^)

Brings back painful memories of one of my former clients.........

Thankfully I never interacted face to face just through email so I never collapsed from the overpowering curry smell.

I used to avoid the elevator when I worked at another building, there were 2 there that all I could smell was dried sweat and curry and it would make my eyes water just to be within 10 feet of them.

What's weird is I met their wives who smelt really nice, WTF gives?

please explain the needful reference to me.
it's been repeated in this thread several times already.

It's some kind of Indian-to-English translation thing. Instead of saying what most English speakers say, "Please do this" or "You need to do whatever it takes", a lot of Indians say "do the needful".

I work at a company that was started by an Indian and therefore is 90% staffed by Indians. The accents were hard to understand at first, but I've gotten used to them at this point. And the only time I smell curry is around lunch time when they're heating up their lunches.

I have a ton of experience with Indians compared to most white men.

My freshmen year of college(2002) I had a roommate that was like a 34 year old Indian grad student. I was in the dorms with 4 of my buddies and it was strange to have this middle aged Indian guy hang around. He would get up at about 3AM almost every day of the week and make the stinkiest curry you can imagine. Weird guy, but totally gracious. We tried to involve him but he seemed spent 90% of his time in the Library.

I worked with a dozen Indian's at my last job and all but one spoke EXCELLENT English. Much better than any Indian professor/grad student I met at school. They were all in their late 20's/early 30's. They were all just regular cool guys.

My buddy in the masters program I'm in right now is second generation Indian. I had no idea he was Indian, sure he's brown but he doesn't have any Indian-esque features. I always thought his parents were from Brazil or something. He grew up here and the only reason I found out he was of Indian descent is because he mentioned his Indian cultured parents pushing him.

Only one indian at my current job. Nice guy, keeps to himself but seems like the stereotypical Indian support phone specialist.

There's a ton of Indian and Russians where I work.

It's kinda weird how many Russians there are, they all group together and speak in Russian all the time like they're plotting something :p

Nah, they're all really nice, just hard to understand sometimes.

You should see (or smell) the indian guys on the train here in Sunnyvale.

Whats worse than the smell is the funky nasty feet as the majority of them wear $10 Kmart Tevas with their polyester slacks. Gotta love those bushy mustaches too.
